I told my friend at ford to mention in the next dealer meeting about Mustang how p****d off everyone is about the lack of information that dealers have to give customers. It's a joke and today I had it confirmed that 3 of my six cars to be built 24/25 won't be and are now September which includes mine. Looks like I may have to steal my friends car when it arrives before mine. The letter today about the exhaust was a joke... Ford couldn't build s-max for 7months, had a six month wait on focus St due to bits with customers losing dates every week and now mustang. Let's hope they don't f*** up RS orders... Had enough now... Really didn't want my new car when the snow is due.. Thanks ford motor company.. They will get the most negative feed back customer satisfaction surveys ever from mustang customers. December 2013 you show the world a car and it don't end up in the UK till October/November 2015... There is creating desire to want a car and there is losing customers to other brands and it will happen in the end. Rant over

I cant imagine the frustration you EUR guys are experiencing. Hell I got fed up when my 6-8 weeks turned into 16-18 weeks. So I cancelled the order on my '16 and picked up a '15.

Your "rant" is totally warranted. Ford Motor Company designs and builds a quality car at a great price point...if only their customer relations were up to the same standards. I was so bummed dealing with them that I sold my Ford stock.

Exactly gents, the problem is we pay a massive premium in Europe for them which makes it worse. Glad you both got your cars and are happy.. I'm sure I will be in December lol

Hey guys - get a grip... Ford always said the first RHD deliveries would be in Q4 - and that is when it looks like they will start to arrive.

As early buyers we knew exactly what we were getting in to.

Having said that, there is absolutely no excuse for them not publishing a detailed brochure and specifications - they have built some of them already!

Since I ordered a convertible I asked for delivery on 1st April so maybe I am a little more relaxed about it.

And we are paying less than Chevy wanted. for a camaro in the UK and it is RHD!

Snow and summer tyres... Mmmm

Ford are quite happy with supplying the car with summer tyres, even though I pointed out Pirelli even state that the tyres should not be used under 7 degrees

It is all very frustrating. Basically I think Ford just massively misjudged and underestimated the market for Mustang in the UK. Probably thought they were gonna sell a couple of hundred ecoboosts at best to the limies and made it only available with the equipment that we would expect from other european models (i.e. the performance package including unnecessary brakes and wheels that make it look more like all the other over designed/overpriced european cars) I'm guessing a fair few of us would have been happier with a more basic equipment level at a better price?

What worries me now is that because all us enthusiasts have ordered as early as we could and are putting the pressure on for details, Ford will probably now think that they're gonna have this same demand every year and will flood the market with dealer stock which will affect residuals greatly.

I don't mind waiting too much, but it is giving me more time to go off the idea.

Not me.

This is the first time I've bought a brand new car, and certainly the first time I've bought one that has a waiting list so when I read about others having had confirmation emails, build dates, VIN numbers, letters about a missing 5BHP because of an exhaust issue etc, whilst I, having paid a ÂŁ1K deposit in JANUARY, have not had any dealer-initiated contact and have had NO contact from Ford whatsoever, it grates somewhat.:frusty:

I will not be accepting this car, if it has theses tyres on
On the grounds, They not fit for purpose,
Why should I have to purchase another set of tyres?

Can you imagine, picking car up, right in middle of winter, with summer tyres on.
Pulling out of dealer, having an accident because tyre are not suitable. Surely that's grounds to Sue Fords.

Here's the reply i got from them :-

Good Afternoon,

I apologise for the delay in my response to your query regarding the tyres that will be fitted on your new Ford Mustang.

Though we have taken consideration to your concerns, we would like to stress that all of our vehicle lines are delivered with Standard Summer Tyres. They offer the best performance for the majority of the UK seasons; winter tyres typically only play a role when temperatures drop below 7C and when there's snowy or icy conditions.

On a performance vehicle like a Ford Mustang, it would be less effective to equip the vehicle with winter tyres that would be less suitable for a majority of the year, and place limitations on the sporty handling of the vehicle. The standard tyres are perfectly safe, and as advised, we fit these as standard to all of our vehicles.

However, of course if you do desire winter tyres, then any Ford dealer will be able to source these for you, as you have previously discussed with them. It would not be a waste; if these are only used during winter months, you would still be able to use the summer tyres for the rest of the year, effectively extending the lifetime of your tyres.

If there is anything further we can help you with, please do not hesitate to send us an email.

Kind Regards,

-----------------------

I didn't actually specify it should be fitted with winters, i said All Season would be more appropriate however my dealer told me i'd have to buy winters and they'd fit them. I think they've also completely missed the point that the 99.5% of their vehicle line dont have in excess of 300bhp+ pushing through the rear tyres!
This is an interesting piece i found on a forum and prompted my email to Ford

“We have recently seen cases of these tires having compound cracking due to the tires being stored/driven on in temperatures below 45 Fahrenheit (7c)
This is not a condition that Pirelli's warranty covers.
Summer tires are not intended to be driven in cold/snow or ice. Not only is traction a huge issue it can also damage your tires.”

Guys, sorry but i maybe slightly agree with Ford here. Why would anyone choose to take a Mustang out in icy/snowy conditions?

Because its a car not a keepsake! It will be my daily driver, used for work, commuting, business use, etc, etc
Sure but unless it's a 4x4 probably not a good idea to take a rear wheel drive sports car out in potentially snowy/icy conditions. I can see both sides though.

There is a world of difference between summer, all season and winter tyres. Three different types; summer are not warranted for use under 7c. Winter are recommended for bad snow/cold - not needed for most of the UK. All season are a compromise for general year round use.

If I lived in the Scottish highlands, common sense tells me winters are a good idea. I live on the south coast and rarely see snow so winters are a waste of time of for me. But temps in winter are well below 7...

All seasons are what I have used and what I expect Ford to pick. They cannot sell a car that is not "fit for purpose" so summers would be dangerous and potentially illegal for me to use...

Since they do not state summer tyres anywhere in their official documents and price lists with the warning not to drive at under 7 then they don't have a leg to stand on..

This will not be my daily driver and I sympathise with those that will be using the car every day and in all conditions. After much thought i will be asking that they fit all seasons on mine and they can keep the summer tyres.I can see an argument brewing!
