So I am going to get my roof wrapped this week. I have a magnetic ecoboost. Not sure if I want gloss black, matte black, carbon fiber of brushed black metallic. Thoughts? Also thinking of matching mirrors, maybe door handles and if i go with carbon fiber maybe the rear gloss piece and area around the tail lights.

I like gloss with dark tinted windows, because the roof will look like it flows into the glass. That's what I plan to do. I was torn on my 13 bc my wheels are Matte so was thinking of going matte to match the wheels. But when the 15 gets here next week I plan to tint the windows and go gloss black on the roof at the same time. Plus the PP pack wheels are gloss as well and will be running those for a while. I have a 1.5 year old little boy now, so I mod very SLOWLY since his arrival. haha as he gets the majority of any extra money I used to have . But it didn't it keep me from getting a s550 lol, just waiting for it to arrive at the dealership. Just will take me 3 times as long to mod it compared to my 13.

I wrapped my Magnetic roof in gloss black. I peeled it off 10 minutes later. There wasn't enough contrast between the gloss black and the dark grey. The vinyl just made the roof look like the paint was crappy from a distance. Just my $.02

Edit: I think flat black would look better, and painting the roof gloss black would be best.

I am a little worried about there being enough contrast. I am leaning towards the CF wrap. I know some people dont like it, but I think it looks nice. If not would go with the gloss black, not a big matte fan. Probably making the decision and possibly doing it on Friday.

cf is just getting so overplayed now. i've just always hated seeing hoods, fenders, trunks, hatches in cf or wrapped in cf and the rest of the car is whatever color it is.

my vote goes to gloss black

Gloss black is your best option. But consider this...

If you look close enough, you'll see the car has black decals on the rocker panels. This is the best illustration I have seen for the black on MM contrast. It's just not very noticeable.

Definitely do what you want, but I wish I'd used my money on something else. That's not to say that I won't revisit this issue at a later date. I may try matte black next. Adding a contrasting surface finish to the weak color contrast may push it over the hump.

Edit: Also keep in mind that this picture was either taken by an 8 foot man(or woman) or taken on a ladder. At normal eye level, the roof did the same thing as the sides are doing in this pic. All you saw was the reflection of the sky and the colors washed together.

I wish it was mine. I still have the factory 20's, but I did get my H&R springs today. So it'll look similar in a few days...

Mine has 15% tint all the way around though.

Edit: I do like the FF15's, but I think I'd go with the Fog or Tarmac versions...

I have 14% tint all around :ninja: lol

thanks for the example though, i am now realizing that gloss black isnt worth doing on Magnetic. Satin Black or true carbon fiber would be my choice.

I think 3M has a new brushed black in their 1080 series too... I'll try to find a pic.

Edit: Here's a pic...

I think it would be kinda cool to do all the factory silver dash pieces and the roof with the brushed black.
