I've searched on here and all over the internet. I have narrowed it down to a few tires in my price range. About $800, give or take. I understand I wont get MPSS grip or allroundedness. I am not sure which fits my driving style. I'm more about corners then straight line performance just by a little. 60/40? Itll be a squared set up so tread wear isnt top priority but I'd rather not have a horrible lifespan. Wet driving is probably my 3rd concern after corners and straight line grip. Any feedback is appreciated. I know they're all good tires.
Bridgestone Pole Position S04
Continental ExtremeContact DW
MT Street Comps
Nitto NT555

If anyone has others in the price range they recommend, I'm all ears. The size is 275/35 or 40 r18. Thanks in advance, sorry for the book.
For me:
1. Cornering/responsiveness performance
2. Straight line performance
3. Wet performance
Everything else doesnt really matter unless its horrible.

I drove on Continental ExtremeContact DW on my Mercedes E55 AMG for the last 8 years with no problems. They are great all season tires IMO. Good value, excellent tread life. Good grip. I would definitely buy them again.

Thanks. Ill be grabbing Blizzaks for the winter. Hows the cornering with the Continentals? I never hear about that with them. Or the Mickeys.

I thought the MT were mainly straight line performance because I never heard about their cornering. Good to know. Thanks

Hows cornering and steering response?
I mean I don't drive it like an asshole all the time because kids are with me but I got no complaints on cornering at a decent speed. nothing to break my confidence put it that way. for price just can't beat them...I'm just curious how long they'll last but for under $200 a tire for even 305's there's nothing to complain about so far. they look pretty damn sexy too. lots of meat. been in one down pour as well where it was awful...just flipped wet/snow mode on because rain was so bad and did great.

Jburgess, I am so glad you started this thread bc my plans for wheel size, and goals for performance, are identical to yours. I have a few shopping carts filled with tire choices! I agree with you about price - that Michelin and Conti seem to get the best reviews but command the highest prices.

What I wonder now, is if the latest all season tires come as close in performance to summer only, as Mich and Conti claim.

One thing that I have concluded (and am willing to listen to more opinions) is that dry performance seems to come at the expense of noise. This and tread like makes me consider A/S even more.

PS> Who has experience with BFG tires?

I have MT Street Comps on my car now and they're excellent. Straight line performance is very good. When it comes to cornering, they aren't the best, but good enough. When it comes time to buy new tires, I'm going with BF Goodrich G-Force Sport Comp 2's. I had them on my Evo X and they were excellent. The grip was definitely above average as opposed to the MT's which I would rate as average at best when it comes to grip.
