Whats funny is that no one has offered proof that the coils can make power or not but most people have made up their minds already. Beefcake is correct that stock coils are sufficient to ignite the mixture into the 7's and over 1000hp. GT350 is also correct that that does not mean that the coils could help pick up some hp. I used a set of granetelli coils on my supercharged 01 GT (16psi and 10.5:1 compr) with meth injection and I can tell you they did not hurt my performance or fail on me in any way. I will admit I changed more then just the coils when I dynoed the car so I can not prove a hp gain due to the coils. It may be that the factory coils are enough to not experience spark blow out but the stronger spark may produce more complete combustion and thus some extra power. Till someone does some independent back to back testing we will not know. All this internet guesswork doesn't help anyone but neither does the close minded sarcasm.

The bottom line is the 11+ coyote coils have been in the 7's, I would say that is more than enough proof that the stock ignition system is good "enough" for 99.999999999% of the guys on this forum and 99.999999999% of the 11+ coyote mustang owners and racers out there. I mean with that said, who the heck is the target market for these coils for the coyote motor? A hand full of coyote stock guys? I haven't heard of anyone experiencing spark blow-out or and other ignition related problems with the stock coyote ignition system.

The fact that aftermarket coils/wires have been proven on other platforms and other motors is not relevant here...we are specifically talking about the 11+ stock coyote ignition system.

And furthermore to call beef out like you did in your previous thread is outright ignorant. He has pushed these platforms harder than most and has been here for the community for years.
Well as the guy with fewer posts I guess I will say sorry again to the 11+ that may be offended

I just don’t understand the words GOOD ENOUGH in a racing environment. And furthermore, with the respect it calls for - i told you'll about multiple Coyote guys as well as other mod motor applications and what you took from that was other none Ford ignition improvements don't prove that they work on Mod Motors? Really

I am not a drag racer anymore. I am an older guy now that has 6 kids, 4 with drivers’ licenses:

1 drives a M4 - go figure he sold out on me
1 drives a cheap Merc - fine for a girl
And 2 have Mustangs a 2015 and the other with my old 2011.

So we have multiple Fords and I have paid my dues. And I am entitled to my thoughts.

I understand Respect is Earned Not Given. So if a few don’t respect my words or my tone - I get that but the first question (point of this thread) was do after market coils help and not one person (besides me) came here to give a firsthand experience answer. Just 3 or 4 saying stock is good enough:shrug:

I am not a troll:lol: I am smart MoFo that speaks from experience not conjecture.

Anyway the thread is now off topic. Sorry for contributing to that BS but not creating it.

I already said I respect the guys that go fast even if they buy their way into the sevens vs. a JPC-like company that keeps trying stuff and then reporting back.

Before you send more hate mail I am not an employee of JPC either.

:amen:

i think post one is a back to back test on a 2015

i posted a back to back on some other guys 2011 (black car)

American Muscle posted on a 2014

I have first hand knowledge on my 98 4v Cobra that no other changes but GMS bricks made my car faster, more consistant and was the only fix for Hi Boost

By next year there will be more Mustangs S550's in the 7's - not alot of guys out there can afford the buy a new body car then pay to have it caged, converted and so on into a 1000 hp car. This early in the game

Yes ofcourse things can be improved upon. I understand what your saying completely. But for 99.999999% of the guys out there, especially guys with minor bolt-ons...money is better spent elsewhere.

Can you agree on that? And your not the only guy with car experience and car history here...just saying...

I agree there are many ways to improve your Mustang Engines performance and therefore spend money. Here was the original question:

Anyone install coil packs on their 15 GT? Do you have to get a tune to go along with it?
So to answer the question:

Yes I have installed them. Yes they make power and No it does not require a retune.

Can you go in the 7's without them? It would appear yes.

Will the motor make more power with them and therefore propel you even faster? It would appear YES

As to product knowledge, car experience and car history...I do not profess to be smarter than the next guy...not even one bit. I am happy and enthusiastic about sharing my product experiences with others. I mean that is what this is all about.

Let try this on for size. I will start a new thread that goes something like this:

FLOWMASTER Mufflers...Anyone install FLOWMASTERS on their 15 GT? Do you have to get a tune to go along with it?

Predicated on the responses in this thread we will get answers like this:

“The quickest coyotes out there don’t run the FLOWMASTERS, they have been in the 7s on the other brands. I have yet to see any real proof of the cars picking up”

Did that answer the question asked? NOPE

“Adding FLOWMASTER mufflers would not gain you any horsepower. Any tuner would probably feel the exact same. The stock mufflers have no need to be changed. Just my .02”

Did that answer the question asked? NOPE

“The stock mufflers on these cars seem to last the longest and offer enough flow. I have seen cars making over 1000hp on stock mufflers.”

Did that answer the question asked? NOPE

“We go 8.17 on the stockers....we’ve never tried any others out there…don't waste your $$”

Did that answer the question asked? NOPE.

But it’s a fair statement from someone that never tested any other brand.

“The bottom line is the 11+ coyote mufflers have been in the 7's, I would say that is more than enough proof that the stock exhaust system is “good enough" for 99.999999999% of the guys on this forum and 99.999999999% of the 11+ coyote mustang owners and racers out there. I mean with that said, who the heck is the target market for these Mufflers for the coyote motor? A handful of coyote stock guys? I haven't heard of anyone experiencing muffler blow-out or and other exhaust related problems with the stock coyote muffler system.

The fact that aftermarket mufflers have been proven on other platforms and other motors is not relevant here...we are specifically talking about the 11+ stock coyote muffler system.”

Did that answer the question asked? NOPE

And my favorite one “if it’s not broke don't fix it.”

See my point? The guy asked a question and mostly what he got was BS and personal commercials

......just saying

Back on topic

Lol I bet. What can I do to make more power without a charger?. After exhaust then what?
These cars are pretty much bad ass as delivered. If you want to go faster start making the car lighter. If you want to make more power and stay away from forced induction then Free Flow Intakes, Long Tubes w/ cat deletes then a custom tune (not canned tune via the mail box) and yes better coils are the way to go.

The time and money spend on camshaft changes and better heads would be better spent on a bolt on blower. In Fact based on the engines design, forced induction is really the best choice and most economical in the long run. I would supercharge the car before adding even exhaust if the goal is to make power. Meaning like 550 rwhp. After that there are a billion choices and opinions. Exhaust makes the car sound cool – I get that.

Plus adding more voltage from coil packs would not gain you any horsepower. Any tuner would probably feel the exact same. The stock coils have no need to be changed. Just my .02
As discussed, you don’t need a tune change with Accel or Granatelli Coils - per their videos. I spoke with Accel and they claimed the extra power comes from better dwell (longer) Any tuner will tell you if you can increase dwell on forced induction you're taking a major step in the right direction.

Awesome, I didn't know that you installed these coils on your own 11+ Mustang Coyote engine. Please post your dyno numbers, track times, or any other proof that your car actually picked up power installing these. I mean I'm sure with the hard stance your taking on this topic you did back to back dyno runs or back to back track runs after installing these and have the hard proof we are all looking for, right?

As for the Flowmaster muffler comparison, all I can say is ...wow, really?

I think GT350's logic is good and I agree with most of what he has to say but I still need to see dyno comparisons done on a 2015 from regular folks like us on the forum. It doesn't help me to much to see a vendor or GMS, Accel, doing the tests. I would love to take they're word for it but too many times have I bought a part because of some magazine dyno test or other companies testing and found I did not get nearly the same results. At least not on a part that may only gain 5-15hp NA for $520-600 like coils. I have even used the GMS coils on my 01 and since this is a different application by far that is not good enough for me. Once a few independent guys have tried and shown us some back to back dyno sheets of mostly stock 15 GT's with GMS coils making repeatable power, then I'm in.

track numbers, lets put the car on the track and back to back, I pass with one, swap to the other

and go back and forth 3 or 4 times

Last back to back Dyno with stock then GMS coils I saw, the car gained zero. There was 1 hp difference on a 600 whp car. Was all i needed to see.

Frankly, salesman here still hasn't provided the back to back same car comparison either time or Dyno to prove anything. Just a lot of hot air and I have them cause I believe they work. Which is no better than what he is accusing beef of

The only reason I would use them would be for extracting the last few hp I could with an NA setup before making the jump to SC. Say you had full exhaust, CAI, and tune. Making 450whp and there is no other bolt ons available that are affordable (Cams eventually for what $2k) So if these coils were proven to give 10-15whp then I might be inclined to spend the $520 to buy a set to satisfy my itch till I can buy the $6-8k supercharger kit. Now that is a huge unproven if at this point. I'm just sayin. A back to back drag test would be a bit hard to prove a 10-15hp difference with so many other factors (driving, traction, etc.) I mean maybe the mph with a consistant car and driver would show the difference but I think back to back on a dyno would take out more excuses.

E85 would be a ton more beneficial then those coils. Yes im aware not everyone has access to it or comfortable. I wouldnt even look at those coils.

Oh how nice it would be to have a couple of E85 stations around here. I would love the extra power I could make. I could totally ignore the poor starting, bad gas mileage, having to test the fuel, limited availability, custom tuning, possible damage to components not meant for e85. No SERIOUSLY, I would ignore all of it!:headbang:

You are so misinformed. Ive ran e85 in my daily for the past 4 years. An easy 60k. No issues. People that have issues are doing it wrong.

I already did that in my first post :D

The simple answer is yes. Get the coils. I did multiple times and always had great results. I had 2012 Red Vert 5.0 with an off the self Vortech kit at 12 psi that ran 10.52 religiously. I installed Granatelli Coyote coils at the advice of Shame Stymis (spelling) and ran consistant 10.45's. No other changes and no plug gap changes either
I had it tuned by Bob Kurgan - It’s gone now and I would have to call kurgan for the dyno figures. If he can fax or email them to me I will be happy to post.

MPH went from 129.2 to 130.5 (130.76 to be exact) using Moroso dream wheel math a 1.36 mph gain is equal to 12 hp

As for hard stance my friend Why are some taking a hard stance the opposite direction when they admit they have NO DATA to support their claims

Factually I am reporting my opinion in which i have actually used the product. This back and forth pissing contest with some is fruitless because everyone on the other side of the staging lane admits they have no testing
