Not stuck up. I don't want the car wash guy putting miles on a car I've been waiting for since late last year and worked tirelessly to be able to afford. Guess it's in my nature to not trust people with my stuff.

At the end of the day it is just stuff. Don't let it own you.

Any dealer worth their salt will understand the scrutiny these cars will get on delivery and act accordingly. They know how small the world is nowadays.

I wouldn't say it owns me but it is something I will enjoy and care for for years to come. I'm like that with all my vehicles. Door dings, scratches, animals climbing inside (has happened twice) pisses me off. I'd hate to have waited this long for a car only to receive a call saying the detailer or a mechanic slammed it into something. Yeah I'm anal about my cars but other people didn't work for it, give up their time for it and give up their summers working instead of going on vacation with friends to save up to be able to afford vehicles and not have to worry about payments. That's why I don't want miles being put on my car that aren't from myself or someone I know and trust.

Wow some real stick up the asses here.

It'll come with what it doe after testing if it goes through more factory testing. There's absolutely nothing you can do as there are no others on the lot to simply take instead or swap or order a new one due to allocations.

You can tell your dealer x, y and z until you're red in the face but you cannot be there every minute to ensure it's followed. Let your blood pressure be and enjoy the car when you take possession; it's just a car.
Seems like you are a little worked up here with the rest of us just trying to help each other out with a few simple tips on receiving our GT350's?

With the amount of money that we have to put out for these great cars let alone how much time and effort is takes to secure on why would we not ask our dealerships to not have the detailer/gas jockey driver to not take them for a joy ride or add extra miles trying to locate a gas station?

Secondly do you really think that in the hands of one of these individuals that they would not flog the crap out of one of our brand new Shelby's?

Once the dealership has taken the car out of "Transport Mode" any individual at the dealership level can drive them anyway that they want?
I can tell you first hand that I have been a victim of this situation so why not try to protect our investment?

If the GT350 or GT350R is just a car to you I certainly respect your opinion but to many of us Mustang and Shelby enthusiasts our upcoming Shelby GT350's are much more than just a car.

This ^ Glad I'm not the only one here who doesn't look at this as just a car.

I would suggest that you and I are not the only ones on this forum that feel this way.

Well said!

I plan on being at the dealership when the truck shows up. Once it's off the truck. I plan on pulling the car wherever they want it, to do whatever needs to be done. I'm also refusing to let them take it to the gas station. You know they are going to stick 87 in the tank. So if they refuse to let me fill it up with a salesperson in the passenger seat. Screw it I'll pay for the 1st fill up.

I do like the dealership that I'm purchasing the car from. But someone is going to want to smoke the rear tires:eyebulge:, put a dealership sticker on the rear and possibly put the front license bracket on the car:headbonk:. I've made a small list of things that I don't want to happen with the car when it shows up. But I'm sure someone at the dealer does not know my request and BAMM it's too late. :tsk:

Not worried about mileage, just don't want them to put any dealership stickers, lisence plate frames on the front, or any of that sort of stuff on the car.

There is a sticker affixed near the window sticker that will show the mileage the car has when it was tested at the Ford factory. Acceptable mileage for me would 5 miles on top of that. My 2015 had 3 miles on the odometer when I took delivery.

Thanks for the info. I've purchased a number of new cars, all daily drivers. This will be my first factory hipo new purchase, hence the query to get a better understanding of what to expect. Learned some new things based on this thread and appreciate the responses.

I bought a GT500 in '08 and the "transport mode", IIRCC, was not a switch that the dealer could flip off but rather the car had to go through "x" amount of start/stop cycles or "x" amount of continuous miles driven. I don't recall the exact numbers of cycles or miles but in my case, I picked it up with 3.4 miles and it took roughly another 30 miles of continuous driving before it would make enough boost to reach the stated 500 HP. I could tell right away when it came out of that mode cause it no longer felt piggish and would make 8psi of boost where it was limited to about 1 or 2 before that. Since there is no boost to control, I'm sure the GT350 will be RPM limited for around the same "x" amount of miles or start/stops.
I worked at a dealership for a while and in that time I saw 2 different oil jockey guys stack up 2 Cobras while "testing" around the block, dumb kids.
Regarding a car wash, have you ever looked in the soap bucket of a dealership car wash? They rarely change the water and dump the bucket so the "soap" water is more slit than soap, leaving the bottom of the bucket looking like a beach, which between that and the sponge/mop that has been used and dropped on the floor countless times, will provide your fresh factory paint with a nice liquid wet-sanding! I recommend skipping the free wash and just tell them NO PDI!

Only 7 years ago and a supercharged 5.4 with 500 HP was impressive! Now we have a 5.2 making 526 NA HP!!!!! Holy crap I need to get one of these suckers!!!

Yes, drilling holes in the front bumper in order to install a license plate holder is concerning. Unfortunately I learned the hard way many years ago.

One time I asked a dealer why my window sticker was all torn up and sitting on the passenger seat of the car and I was told that when they took the car out for gas the gas jockey rolled the passenger window down and because the WS was a little loose it got caught coming down and got all torn up so the original window sticker was toast.

If you don't know if you are aware of this at least this has been my experience but your selling dealership should be able to order you a second window sticker from Ford at no cost so suggest you give that a try.

I have had great success and based on the above example it is always a good idea to have a second window sticker let alone extra car covers, splitters etc. I have put away lots of extra OEM parts over the years but that is just me.

:)

PP0001,

Have you received an update on your 15 being delivered this week?
Based on a conversation with a Ford rep early last week I was told that due to additional detailed inspections of the 2015 cars that I could not expect my car no earlier than the beginning of September.

Not sure if my car (or your car as 4 of these 2015's are coming to SC) is coming OTR or rail but if by rail I suggest I won't see my car until late September?

If Reliable Carriers are moving our cars OTR as rumored from Flat Rock then I suggest we may see them just before Labor Day?

For me this is a dream car. I have also worked hard to be in a position to buy it.
I have arranged with my dealer, that I will be present when it arrives.
If in foul weather they have agreed to unload it directly into shop, so no salt
gets anywhere near it. They will do PDI with me there.
put safety sticker in window as required. They will not touch anything else.
Not any stickers, wraps etc. I will be the only one to drive it, even if it is
on an enclosed trailer to take home. I hope it is before bad weather.
As many others who have been waiting a long time, this is a big deal.
My dealer understands that and is doing everything they can to accommodate me.
