Question for the guys with lots of experience in turbos... Adam feel free to chime in...

I have heard 3 distinctly different turbo blow off valve noises... I have no idea how and what factors play into the noise...

First is the flutter... The "fun-fuh-fuh" sound....
Second is the "POOSH" sound ours makes when you take the hose off...
Third, and he most difficult to explain... Is the high pitched "PEW" sound... They are real high pitched... I wish I could find a video but a friend of mine had an eclipse that made that sound...
What contributes to each different sound?

I'm looking for the real high pitched noise... If anyone can explain to me how to achieve that, or if it's possible or just luck of the draw.

Edit: here is a video of the noise

depends on the brand of blow off valve, really. They all pretty do much the same thing. Got a ton of brands - TurboXS, HKS, greddy, Boomba Racing, etc etc etc

The fuj fuh fuh will happen with pretty much any brand if you close the throtle at under 10 psi, the second version is the more common one at higher boost levels, and well the third one im guessing is brand specific

I just installed a turbosmart BOV on mine.
Sounds like the other BOVs I've had on other cars.

It's actually one of the best out there other than Tial or Turbosmart. I can't take the sound of the HKS for more than a day unless it's on a big turbo'd car making it not sound so high pitched.

I have a turbosmart bov. This is my first turbo mustang and love it so far. Just added Cobb ots tune and it feels so much better. When asked why I added the turbosmart bov I send them this link. You can really hear the different sounds in this vid. I know it's not a mustang but it's still an Ecoboost :)

Nah, I think he's talking about a sequential bov. Like the fluttering type, that happens at any level of boost, not just 10psi or whatever you're taking about. .
