So...long story short, I bought a base Ecoboost w/ PP back at the beginning of November. I ordered the car in June, and never test drove the 5.0 at the time. I test drove one while getting an oil change on the EB a few weeks ago and immediately regretted not giving it a look before pulling the trigger on the EB. Holy hell...it feels so much more alive.

Fast forward to today, and I have an opportunity to trade up for a base 5.0 for $29,450. The dealership is offering $22,250 for my trade; lower than I would want, but they may go to $23,000 if I push enough. I only owe about half of that on my loan. My monthly payments would go up by only $15, but I couldn't care less about that since I usually pay double or triple my monthly payment towards principal each month. Insurance would go up by $5 a month...laughable.

The deal is too good to pass up, yet I still hesitate because I just bought the EB 10 months ago. I've been through several cars in the last few years, but not by choice (I will never buy a Hyundai again). This situation, however, is purely a "want" and not a "need."

So, good people of the m6g forums...what would you do?
Go for it. Those saying they weren't impressed with a GT are just Justifying their purchase. I went from a C7 to a 15 GT and I was impressed. After a simple CAI, h pipe and axelback my GT went from a beast to a MONSTER. Do it don't look back you could die tomorrow

They put out the EB for Europe, given some countries have insane taxation on large engines and we pay pretty high fuel prices.

Then it backfired because something like 80%+ of EU orders have been for GTs.
Not really, only in relative petrol-head countries. As far as I know, in NL exactly zero GT's have been ordered.

There are some countries with no GT orders because they basically end up six figure cars thanks to draconic taxation. NL and Belgium are two of them, I think Italy will have very few orders as well. But overall, Europe is going gaga for the GT.

Like discussed in another thread, this is also a case of wanting what you can't have. For the first time at GT is a viable option in Europe and a Focus RS is coming Stateside. I know the RS has more than caught my eye. It is a good time to be a Ford enthusiast.

I would wait for the ''refresh'' that will probably be out in the spring of 2017. Thats what Im waiting for tbh. A lot of EB guys jumping ship prematurely and they will be regretting even more when Ford goes all out on the next refresh. Could be similar to what Ford did with the Mustang from 2009-2011 or a 2012-2013 change which was pretty significant upgrades all around to the Mustang.
I dunno, the 2015 is pretty "refreshing". :D

Besides, there will *always* be something fresher than what all of us already have. I don't believe in regretting a wait for this very reason. If he feels there are no financial reasons holding him back from buying the GT right now, OP should go for it.;)

My advice is to look very carefully and drive all the different GT variations before you pick one to reduce future remorse as much as possible. I.e. - aaack I shoulda got the performance pack!!!

It sounds like you are financially secure enough to buy if you want. Cars, especially new ones, are never a good investment, so I disagree with those that worry about loss. I feel someone with a newer car who is talking about depreciation or loss is not thinking straight. If they really think avoiding loss/depreciation is very important they should be in an older car, or not buy a car in the first place.

To me the main financial consideration is whether it will hamper other things such as your retirement investments and home improvements. Make sure you are leaving some room for those other important but not urgent things. Assuming you own a home and have retirement accounts - if not then my advice is delay any newer car purchases until you have your life in better order.

I'm going through similar indecision and thoughts because I bought my GT last November and I'm considering a GT350.

its stupid the fact that you talk about payments, its about how much you paid OTD for your ECO probably 28-31k OTD now they are giving you 22k thats a 9k loss in my book, always look for the bottom line

After getting my tune I am completely happy with my EB, don't understand the craziness over just the V8, sound of the GT etc...

Maybe some people aren't happy with their turbo 4, and want a V8... And, maybe that is work 9K to them :)

Buy whatever makes you happy. I have 0 complaints about my choice or what others think of it. I love MY car, and that's what it's all about :p

Sit on it for another year then trade it in on a GT when Ford ups the power to chase Camaro power numbers. You'll likely have a lot more positive equity a year from now.

agreed. i would hold off right now, especially with the camaro coming out in less than a year. i know the feeling of regret sucks, but just hang on for a little while longer and you'll end up with either a camaro or GT with more power eventually. at least you learned your lesson, and will probably never make the mistake ever again. i know i did a while back.

Yep hold off, because Ford is definitely doing something with the '17.

FYI, the Camaro is hitting the streets at the end of Oct/early Nov.

The Cee'd range is Kia Europe's single best selling model, the most popular class of sports car in Europe is the Hot Hatchback and the most popular class of car in Europe is the hatchback, so it makes sense that Kia would make this car specifically for us (and limited export to Aus and NZ).

Meanwhile the USA still views the humble hatchback as "the car you buy when you can't afford a real car" and Kia sell barely any hatchbacks in the states. This is why you get the (albeit inferior) Forte Koup SX Turbo instead. Sedan-ish cars sell way better over there.
That view is changing over here some with the VW Golf. Kia would sell a lot of Cee'd over here. They're just clueless.

IF you can pay for it, go for it but just FYI there are more cars out there than the "almighty 5.0" and 29k is not even a good deal for a base 5.0 anymore, you're also getting hella lowballed because you car can most likely be sold for 25 privately.

I'm guessing your car is stock too because if you drove my EB then a stock 5.0 you would be far from thinking "it feels much more alive"
