New member here, currently in a '13 335i six-speed manual. Thinking real hard about switching to a S550 GT Performance Pack six-speed manual. I wanted to know how the car would stack up against a few cars in a straight line race, the track and in the mountains.

S550 GT vs. '13 STi stage 2
SS50 GT vs. M235i (performance loaded)
S550 GT vs. Z06

Thanks for the help guys.

Are you serious? A Z06 (c6 or c7) will obliterate a S550 GT in a straight line. So will a "stage 2" STi. The GT is about even with the M235i.

A STG 2 sti will NOT "obliterate" a stock s550. The s550 should win, if not, driver mod needed. If its a full bolt on sti, e85, elh and ewg then itll be a close race. Std run of the mill sti will lose. A stock m235i is also slower then a gt

Infact i have one in my bay right now. if I could get the picture to upload. Ill use photobucket.

I figured on the z06 but I wonder if it could hang with it.

I figured a stock s550 should be able to beat a stage 2 STi and a m235i.

But would a s550 with suspension mods hang with a m235i that has suspension mods?

It will not hang with a c7 z06 in any fashion.

A Stock gt PP is not far behind an m4 1:23:73 around a road course. m235i did 1:26:38, Stock PP 1:24:29

I guess it would depend on the degree of suspension mods the m235i had.

Sorry, I'm not well versed when it comes to Subarus. My buddy has an older "Stage 2" (whatever that means LOL) WRX non-Sti and it hauls ass. I figured a newer "Stage 2" Sti would beat a GT. Still, a stock STi is a sub 5 sec car 0-60 and low 13's in the 1/4, which is pretty close to the GT. I guess it all depends on what "Stage 2" is...

And I'm not sure an M235i is slower. Again it's a sub 5 sec and low 13's car. Even faster with the 8 speed ZF auto.

A c7 z06 is pumping out over 200+ more hp than a stock GT. It also weighs considerably less. A GT vs z06 drag race would be, lambs to the slaughter.

The GT should edge out the 235 and the sti.

OP for what it's worth I've driven tuned 335s and they make great power and can be easily faster than a tuned GT. However, they feel executive and not nearly as sporty as the GT.

You won't get many sub 5 second 0-60 runs in a STI before something breaks, especially in a modded one.

It is fast to 60 due to its awd launch. While you do see 4.8ish 0-60, the 5-60 times are pathetic - in the mid-6 second range. Take the awd launch out of the picture and nothing special there at all - acceleration wise.

Also, check out the trap speed of the sti vs. GT. It is about 7mph slower - that is huge. Once you are moving GT should walk it from pretty much anywhere.

As already mentioned. The S550 will take all but the Vette..

its cool. Just was trying to inform you. Sti is a sub 4 second car when launched properly. best stock time ive seen for a 15 st so fari is high 12s.

If you look at trap speeds for the GT vs a 235i the gt has a few mph on it.

Not true at all. Stock axles are good for about 650whp on slicks, anything north of that you will break axles often enough. the trans usually breaks around 700s.

Bench racing...No bueno.

A stage 2 STi is quicker than a GT in the qtr mile...They usually run 12.5

stage 2 means turbo back exhaust intake and a tune. nothing drastic, coming from 8 years behind the wheel of a modded Subaru. stage 2 is looking at about 300-330 at best at all 4. the launch will be critical for the sti but the gt will reel it in real fast. had it happen to me a few times before i sold my car. and my WRX was 345 at all 4.

330 is too high for a stage 2. Unless you are using a dyno Jet that reads high. Even with E85 conversion the newer VF52 turbos dyno 250-280whp on a mustang dyno.
