Here's the steps sent to me by John Lund in loading/flashing/updating the Tuner/N Guage properly.

1. When you put the new firmware on the SD card follow the instructions to update the firmware on the device by going to Diagnostics > Settings > Update from SD card

2. Next is try going to go back to Gauges and it will ask you to select a Model. Select Ford then when it asks for Scan Depth do "Scan all".

How to load a tune onto the nGauge. This can be done one of two ways. I will detail both ways below.

1. Unplug the micro USB card from the bottom of the device and plug it into the mini USB adapter that came in the box with the device. Load the mini USB card into your PC/Mac and open up the "Custom Files" folder on the card. Save the .enc tune file from your email and move it into this folder. Once it has been loaded into the "Custom Files" folder, you can exit the window and re-insert the micro SD card back into the nGauge.

2. This method requires a mini USB cable. Plug one end of the cable into the nGauge and the other end into the computer. The device will boot up and you will get a "Couldn't Connect... Is Key on?" message.

-Select the "X" in the bottom left hand corner to take you to the main screen.
-Select Diagnostics > USB SD
-Now the device will be connected to your computer as a Removable Disc. Open up the Removable Disc folder and go into "Custom Files".
-Save your .enc tune file from your email to your desktop, then drag it into this folder. Once your tune file has been loaded into the "Custom Files" folder, you can exit the window.

Now you are ready to plug the nGauge into the vehicle and flash the tune. This is simple. Plug it in to the vehicle via the OBDII port under the dash. Once it is plugged in and powered on, select "Tuning" and follow the on screen instructions from there to flash the new tune.

I just got my nGauge from Beefcake (JLT CAI comes today). My nGauge had Lund's most up to date firmware already loaded.

While playing with the nGauge, I was having difficulty getting any readings for the gauges.

rio16's step 2 was the most important: "2. Next is try going to go back to Gauges and it will ask you to select a Model. Select Ford then when it asks for Scan Depth do "Scan all"."

When you select a model, you can select either OBD, Ford, or GM. Initially I clicked OBD since I wanted to scan through the OBD port, and all of my readings were 0. When I clicked Ford (after going through the menu to "forget" the model), it worked like a charm.

I'll let you guys know if I run into any issues loading the tune, but it seems straightforward from here.

How did your experience go with the tune Rio? Smoothly? How does the car feel after?

For those of us moving from another vendors canned tune (ProCharger + DiabloSport) to Lund + nGauge, do we need to use the DiabloSport and put our car tune back to stock before reflashing with the new goodies?

I ordered my nGauge from beef last week so it should be here any day! I want to hit the ground running...

I would return to stock, it's not really "necessary", but I personally like to start fresh

I always do a KAM reset too before flashing

it's kind of like clearing your browser cache on your computer

Question, If I get a N gauge with a Lund tune can I return to a stock tune if warranty work is needed? Does a tune void my warranty?
