The Coyote has had sinter-forged rods since the beginning. 2015 has the slightly thicker Roadrunner rods, which are still sinter-forged.

The Coyote block becomes the weak link over about 900hp, where the cylinder liner fails and pushes into the water jacket. To get 1,500hp from a Coyote requires an upgraded block with a reinforced water jacket. The crank is indeed very stout and can handle some insane power numbers. Don't recall anyone needing to upgrade the stock crank other than record holders.

Doesn't the new blocks for '15GT's have the reinforced water jackets?

Didnt realize sinter forged and powder metal forged were synonymous; thanks for the info.

I have been checking my oil every 1000 miles. So far no loss of oil. My 14 went thru about a qt every 1500 until I got past 10K. I drove mine from NJ to Arizona at 75-85 mph and she got 28.2 mpg round trip. I went back to coyote from the EB because it was so reliable.

seems like the only "issues" the coyote has is the "BBQ Tick" after an (early) oil change, and some oil consumption before the rings break in. best way to break the rings in is to of course do some WOT runs with some engine braking under vacuum.

weak link after adding boost would be the oil pump gears. but from what i've seen, it's mostly for "peace of mind" and marketing purposes for the aftermarket manufacturer.

What I want to know is how to make this thing a reliable 8k RPM engine.

Lmao, I see most people crank theirs to 7500. I was wondering if it would be possible to make it an even 8 with cams and other goodies.

So far about 1,400 miles here and no oil consumption! From what i've heard/read, the current 5.0 Coyote is probably one of the best motors Ford has put out.

Very reliable. People are throwing 500-800hp at the stock engine with no internal engine mods and holding up perfect- pistons, rings, everything.

Ford made 1 hell of strong 5.0 this year. In the past the GT engine couldn't handle a whole ton of power without forged internals.
