So I got my hands on a pair of these for my V6:

http://www.uprproducts.com/2011-mustang-37-billet-emblem.html

I'm looking for installation advice/tips. The trickiest part is figuring out the location and making sure they align perfectly on both sides.

Any 5.0 owners want to help me with measurements on where their fender emblems are located? It'd be much appreciated.

Anything I need to watch out for in terms of maintenance? Car wash? Weather? It comes with a 3M double-sided adhesive.

I did this for my 2014 V6. Lessons learned:

- park the vehicle on an extremely level surface
- place the emblems extremely slowly, because once it's on it isn't moving
- place the emblem relative to the lines of the car, not relative to the earth or your perspective (refer to the first point of parking on a level surface)

Trust me, it'll look great!!! And they won't come off unless you want them to.

Do you know where I can find this template? Google isn't coming up with anything useful.

Great tips! Thanks! Originally my plan was to take the measurement from the center of the front wheel and the bottom edge of the window. But taking the measurement from the flat ground seems smart.

I haven't done mine yet but I don't understand what could be remotely difficult about this? Wouldn't any logical person just box in the old emblems with masking tape before removal, and then reinstall the new ones in that same box? They are the same size...

I might be wrong but I don't think the v6 cars come with fender badges from the factory. So nothing to go off of.

This.
Just use a tape measure.
Hold the emblem where you'd like it to be.
Measure the distance from the black plastic trim to the emblem.
Mask it off with tape.
Measure the distance from the door gap to the emblem.
Mask it off with tape.
Use these measurements for the other side.
If it's important for you to have it where the 5.0 is, then go to a dealer and take measurements. But to be honest, you could just eyeball that. Unless you are inches off, no one would ever know.

of course they don't, but the 5.0s do so you can just use the same placement.....

Finally did it. I decided to more or less eye-ball it. I took the measurements from the the two parallel lines on the side, and the straight edge of the door panel. 11.5 cm from the top line, 15 cm from the straight edge of the door.

I dont think there's any conspiracy. Ford had only side badged the GT and above going back as far as I can remember in modern Mustangs. I can't remember a V6 model with side badges except the 45th edition in 2009 which had nothing to do with being a v6 either.

I'm not considering a conspiracy it's just that I believe that Ford gave the V-6
"shortshrift" at the rollout of the 6G. And they made a big deal of telling the press that the new Mustang was meant to have only the Coyote and the EB. But there's that little Cyclone engine just selling away. That 3.7 badge looks good IMO.

It's pretty obvious Ford deliberately gave V6 the short end of the stick for 6G, and I'm still not cool with it. But I understand their business decision. Still, the V6 is awesome even on the short end of the stick!

Thanks for the compliment! :)

Earlier I was pulling our from a parking lot, and a pair of dudes were smoking on the side. As I rolled by, they both checked out my car and one of them pointed at the emblems, talking to his buddy. Made me grin like a little boy. lol
