If you use Rdio or Spotify for music and own an iPhone you may want to look at Apple Music. Apple Music launched today and everyone gets a free 3 month trial, the awesome thing is that its part of the "Music" app. This means your infotainment system can see ALL the songs that are added to your streaming collection, allowing you to use all the voice command features and searching your library via the infotainment screen.

If you're like me and used Spotify or Rdio, this is amazing. The days of fiddling with my phone to change albums is over.

Curious but is your GT a Premium (nice color btw!)? I have a Premium with the My Ford Touch or whatever they call it. I kept reading about all of these "apps" you can install on it to work with certain iphone apps (I believe Spotify was one of them). When I followed the instruction to install apps, I kept getting some sort of error message (can't remember what it was).

Long story short, after messing with it forever, I finally called Ford's Sync support. The guy told me that the apps are currently only for the base Sync systems and are not available for the My Ford Touch system. Something to do with them testing compatability. Of course, he could not give me a timeline for when it would be available so with Sync 3 coming soon, I'm going to guess that will be never...

Regardless, when I do play Spotify through my system (via either Bluetooth or Lightning/USB cable), I do get track info on the screen and can use the track up/down buttons. Never tried searching by voice though. I'll have to see if it works but I doubt it.

Oh, also, Apple Music has Taylor Swift. Spotify does not.

Spotify wins.

I believe Apple uses 256kb as standard.

Spotify Premium gives you 3 options with 320kb being the Highest quality.

Ya I do have the premium. No our system does not have "Sync AppLink" and yes Spotify does and integration with AppLink.

I can do the same with RDIO but I'm limited to that album, was the same with Spotify when I used it. With Apple Music I have access to ALL songs in my collection.

$9.99 for single, $14.99 for a family account.

It streams at 256 but it's in aac format while Spotify uses mp3. CNET did a test a long time ago comparing the formats and found 192kbs aac is equal to 320kbs mp3 in quality. If you look at technical information comparing the two formats it's clear 256kbs is higher quality than 320kbs, but the majority of people won't hear the difference.

I pay 3.99 for spotify and I love it. Plus I feel spotify has more choice than Apple, at least for my taste I music.

I am giving it a go right now. Currently use Google Play Music. Not sure if I will make the switch. Not having a way to 'one-click' a song to a 'favorites' playlist sucks.

Plus right now with Apple music I cannot add a song that is playing to a playlist at all. I click the 3 ellipses in the player and click 'add to a playlist', click the playlist - I get a check mark stating it was added, but the song does not get added.

Song will add fine if I actually search for the album/artist and add it from the album list (without playing the song).

I'm sure it will be addressed, but not having the 'add to playlist' working is almost a deal breaker. Bad enough I am giving up my Google Play playlist, but not being able to build a new one up as songs come on that I like is not good.

i have 100,xxx mp3's @ 256 or greater in my collection. problem is, almost nothing after 2008. (had a call center of people all dump their music onto an external hard drive for sharing) 9,xxx complete cd's worth of music.

So i use spotify for new stuff. May try apple music just so it's all in a single app.
