Is this a thing people do? I only know of NOS from the fast and the furious movies, and I have seen a few people on youtube rub nos systems on 4 cylinder cars, but is nos a thing that can be done to a v8 like a mustang?

First of all, forget any and everything you've seen on that stupid ass movie. Double clutching is for dump trucks, "NAWS" cannot be used too early (with traction), and Americans aren't scared of big supercharged hemis. That movie did more damage than good to the automotive scene.

Now that that is out the way.

Nitrous oxide can, and is, applied to the mustang. It's a very money efficient way to make more power, at the expense of having to get the bottles filled. If you don't have an outlet close to you, that can be a pain.

Be warned. That stuff is addictive. It won't take long or many bottle fills if you aren't cautious, before you've paid for a supercharger.

Also, make damn sure your tuning is spot on. You can't just throw it on and hit the button.

Judging from your question, my suggestion to you is to start with basic bolt ons. It's apparent that you don't have much experience with hot rods. Start basic and work your way up, learning along the way. It'll be more fun, educational, and quite possibly save your life rather than getting too much power too early.

Sounds cool, I don't think I would ever use NOS on my car, I am actually fairly certain it is illegal for road use here. Have any links to clips or information? I know the movie is just ridiculous, and nothing about it is even close to reality lol. NOS is basically a chemical supercharger. I just wanna see some cool applications. I've never heard of a v8 car using it before lol.

Also, I am likely to go with basic bolts ons until my warranty ends, and then supercharge it if I want real power. I love the sound of a supercharger.

Man, it's not nearly as cool as it is in the movies haha. It does seem to add some serious power though, out gunned a supercharged system it sounds like? Is it possible to run it on a FI system?

Wait, so you're telling me your floorboard won't blow off when using NAWS??

Nitrous is crazy power for crazy cheap. Back in High school we put a 150 shot on my friends 01 gt with a CAI and tune. It put down over 400hp on a dynojet and ran 11s. I think everything cost him 500-700$ It ran fine for about 4 months and on prolly the 20th spray he melted his whole intake.

I'm not sure I want to melt my intake. :O 400 wheel hp is quite a bit though! The shot number denotes what exactly?

It has to do with the nitrous jets. Basically the more you inject into the intake the more power you get. A lot of people run 75-100 shots of nitrous on completely stock 4.6s with no issues for a long time. For comparison in a sn95 mustang a 100 shot usually nets an increase of 150hp give or take what mods you have. I've never messed with any nitrous on a 5.0 but I would guess it would be very effective with the higher revving capability over the 4.6.

O.k.

Raoh, please stop calling it NOS. It is either Nitrous or N2O.

NOS (Nitrous Oxide Systems) is a brand name.

You will not melt the intake. You could have a backfire from fuel puddling in the intake (wet system) or timing way off. Talk to a vendor about what kind of kit is best for your goals and application (car).

That's what I had thought. Well then, let's fine me a 500 shot for my 5.0...
O.k. now I gotta ask.

I am sorry, I suppose it's a little like the people who call all hot sauces by one brand name.

That was mainly a joke hahah. I just wanted to see if anyone ever used nitrous on mustangs, or if it was more of an import guy's kind of thing.
