Dealers are making a fair profit at MSRP.
What does fair mean in this case? I think my dealer wants to make a similar profit to what other dealers are making. You and I want to pay the least possible for the car. If the dealer would sell at a loss I would be very happy with that price.

I can understand both positions. I'm not happy about it, but I don't think it's unfair. They have an item that has somewhat limited availability at this time, and there are people willing to pay more than sticker for it.

I'm planning to make the decision based on other competitive cars. If the dealers asks for an ADM and I can get something I like better for less money, then I won't buy. If I think the GT350 with ADM added is still far better than the similarly priced competition, I just might pay the extra.

I'm a little sad my dealership only had 1 allocation. They are a really big dealership, too. If they would have had 5 or 10 allocations, I would feel as though I'd have a lot better chance to get a car near MSRP. In a way, I blame the government and the American people more than Ford or the dealership. If people weren't all crazy about the new greenie fad, Ford could pump out 20,000 or 30,000 of these cars a year and we would all be paying MSRP or maybe even under.

It is what it is - I want something that is unusual and a specialty product. There are consequences for wanting it. I just have to decide how much I want it, and how patient I'm willing to be.

What you decide is up to you.

Fair as set by the manufacturer.

Highly unlikely, at least the 2016s. For every person who turned down ADM on this forum there are 5 people in the general public who will pay an ADM for the car who have the money to blow and simply dont care, or expected an ADM out of the gate.

To someone who really really wants the car $5k extra isn't a big pill to swallow since the car is already very reasonably priced for what it is.
Well, there are only some folks willing to pay adm, and there is a big difference between 5k and 20-30k adm. I can assure you there isn't a hoard of buyers chomping at the bit to pay a 50% markup. A handful of buyers may pay those crazy numbers, but i assure you those dealers trying to gouge will have those cars on the lot in a few months collecting dust.

Of course that's why I said $5k. They will sell some at $10-20-30 above MSRP, but not a lot. Most will have a few thousand ADM though. I just see people mentioning a few thousand ADM and being pissed as if a limited production car won't have an ADM at many many dealerships. Again, this happened with the Hellcat and a lot more were allowed to be ordered than 5,000; this scenario was to be expected. One's own inflated expectations about getting one at MSRP is not Ford's fault. You want one first year you gotta pay the piper or wait until demand comes down in a year or so.

I still have to agree with a previous post that even with a few thousand ADM it's still a heck of a deal for what the car is.

I don't even like the term ADM to begin with. MSRP is the SUGGESTED retail price. A dealership is freely able to sell a car for whatever price they want at the end of the day and the customer can go to another dealership too. The 1964 LEs were sold, many with ADM (not all but many). Even some of the regular old 2015s had ADM when they first rolled onto lots in 2014 and people paid it to be first with one. When there is an item people want, there will be people willing to pay over sticker to get it for whatever personal reason they have.

Let's face it guys, ADM is out there and in full effect. This is a profitable vehicle for a dealership. And don't be surprised that when your car comes in, if the dealership wishes to "hold" it for a couple of days to attract attention.

I'm at 77 dealerships contacted as of today. VA, WV, NC, MD, and PA (300 mile search area). Best I've found is $5k over. Still hunting that MSRP deal, but honestly at this point I'd pay up to $1k over MSRP.

Something to consider as pointed out by others is if you wait til 2017 to avoid current ADM, 2-3% inflationary price increase for the next year covers that even if no ADM next year, altho could be a better car ?possible?.

Like I said in another post today, I would pay $1,000 ADM to a local dealer since I'm willing to buy out of state at MSRP and would have to pay for travel / shipping in that case.

Yea, I totally agree with you. If I had a truck and trailer I'd search further. I'm hoping I get lucky like some of you have, or someone is kind enough to pass me a solid lead.

I might be in the minority here, but I'm after a viable track car at a reasonable price. I'm not stuck on the GT350. I'm trying to get an out the door price near $60k, which I feel is the end of its value. Any higher and I will likely purchase something else, most likely a C7 Z51 or used 2012-13 GTR.

For me its gonna come down to what they offer me on my trade. I know its worth almost as much as I bought new 3yrs ago. I just need to find a dealer with legit allocation, great trade offer, and I'll do MSRP. Anyone? lol

I will give someone my MSRP deal if they can find me a dealer that has an "R" allocation for a 5K ADM, I may go up to a 10K ADM. PM me is you have one. If it works and I can put a deposit down, you can have my DORA and we can still make changes to it.

The problem for me is that the R, with all of Fords packaging limits, is squarely in C7 pricing - so if it comes above 60k then Ford doesn't make sense. The C7 can be had any way you pick - track car, convertible, auto, stick plus things Ford doesn't even offer like HUD and the PDR.

The GT350 would work, but again all those artificial limits and all this struggling with dealers over allocations and ADM makes me sick. Ford + its dealers are pushing me to the dark side.:mad:
