Trunk Light Question

After doing a car show this weekend I was looking for information on the trunk lighting. I don’t know with all the electronics now on cars if the trunk light would stay on all day if it was open or if the light turns itself off after a certain time. There is no mention in the manual in hard copy or on-line. Sounds stupid but I would hate to kill power screwing around with an open trunk.

It will probably just stay on, I doubt there is a sensor. The rear end is one of the best parts of the car anyway, who wants to look in the trunk? lol unless that's where your subs are

My 2012 5.0 would turn the trunk light off automatically after a while, I would assume the 2015 would do the same.

Why not go outside and leave your trunk open for a bit, check back to see if it turns itself off?

I don't think that the trunk light automatically shuts off. I left my trunk open in my garage...when I came back it was still lit. I didn't time it...I just make sure that my trunk is shut after opening it.

If you leave your trunk open for an extended period, it turns off automatically. I found this out when I dipped my rear emblem. By the time i removed the panel and emblem from the panel, it was off. So no more than 20 minutes up, if that.

same here. was removing my spoiler and i saw the trunk light switch off after a whileaddle:

Hey Bacon,

Everyone pretty much hit the nail on the head here. The trunk light will go out after a short period of time and you do not have to worry about draining your battery at all!

It goes out after 45 minutes. Fords have been doing this since at least my 1988 Sable. I have already proven this on my car; left the trunk open over night one time because I had my hand full and forgot to go back out and close it. No problem.

The emblem is a Hot Wheels one I found on-line that reminds me how I have been wanting my own Hot Wheels car forever. Matched with my Hot Wheels shift knob I must have heard 10 guys at the show tell their girlfriends it was the Hot Wheel model Ford makes like they are some expert. Kids loved it as it's at their eye level.... Thanks everyone for the replies, I had timed it but after 15 minutes I gave up, should have gone longer.

That's COOL I do like it on your car, were did you find them at....... I have put the Coyote V8 emblems on my 2015 mustang....
