We are absolute performance car nut-jobs in this country.

We're one of the biggest markets in the world for performance cars, we buy more convertibles than any other European country, we're one of the biggest hot hatchback markets in the world, and we buy more Audi TTs than any other single country in the world.

I would honestly not be surprised if the UK was the biggest market for the Mustang outside of North America.

I think I read somewhere that General Motors considers the UK the most important market (or one of the most important markets) in Europe for the Cadillac brand. If they can crack the UK, it usually causes a butterfly effect across the rest of Europe.

I knew you all were into hot hatches and German cars. Didn't know about Muscle cars. That's great, though. I hope you enjoy your car.

The closest we ever got to American muscle was the ford Capri in the 80s and it sold loads. Still has a big following today. I've had mine 7 years and loved it but time for proper muscle lol

The European Equivalent of Muscle cars such as the E63 AMG, Jaguar XK8, Audi RS5, Ford Capri etc. etc. have always sold extremely well in the UK. The fact that we can now have a proper, blue-blooded American Mustang is sending UK car media into a frenzy.

At last, a Muscle Car from the country and brand that invented the genre. :D

Granted, when the Gen5 Chevrolet Camaro was sold in Europe it sold extremely poorly - but that's because GM charged a fortune for the car and didn't convert it to Right Hand Drive.

They're doing the same with the C7 Corvette. A whopping base MSRP of $86,000 and no RHD. An Aston Martin V8 Vantage is only $11,000 more, to give you an example of GM's rampant stupidity with their pricing.

Our only issue is still gas prices to run them. At approx $7/8 a gallon it's not great as a daily [emoji22]

How are the Brits taking to the Ecoboost motor?

I've heard mixed ordering. But mainly GT It's the ecoboost I've ordered as insurance and fuel costs wise it made sense to me as a daily. A lot of the diehard fans will go the GT as a weekend toy I'm sure.

Performance from the ecoboost sounds good and tunable

But we are also expecting the ecoboost engine to be in the next RS focus.

It would be nice if the fuel was cheaper, but when the GBÂŁ is 1.5x the US$, $7 a gallon is manageable on a low to medium mileage driver. I'm going to use my V8 GT as a daily. At 700 miles a month or less, and about 240 miles to a tank, I'm looking at around ÂŁ180 a month. That's only ÂŁ30 a month more than my 4-pot Hot Hatchback.

I'm coming from a diesel to a petrol again so I'll notice it more.

Very, VERY few are being sold. Something like 1 EB for every 20 GTs.
That's about what I was figuring. You can get turbo-4s anywhere in Europe. An American V8 has got to be something of a novelty.

Ahhh. Yes you will. When I went from my Diesel to my Hot Hatch I definitely noticed it more. Went from two tanks a month to three.

True Story.

Driving to Roker in Sunderland in the North of England. Not one, but TWO Bentley Continentals and an Audi S8 at the lights. Mustang S197 in bright red with white side stripes was at the other set of lights.

People were staring. I thought they were looking at the Bentleys. When the Bentleys and the Audi drove off people were still staring, only then did I notice they were looking at the Mustang.

They may be common as dirt in the USA, but they're rare exotics here.
