Generally speaking when you have a loud exhaust it sounds like you are pressing the throttle harder than you actually are. Your brain correlates the exhaust note to speed but because you aren't actually pressing the throttle as hard as before you feel the car is going slower.
This. People feel the louder the car is, the fast it should be.

OP you haven't lost any hp. Even with no catback you wouldn't lose hp. As for the farty sound, look for a leak. The exhaust does rasp but doesn't sound farty.

It actually could lose HP if there was a production defect or an internal piece of the muffler that has broken loose and is blocking the exhaust flow. But this scenario would be EXTREMELY unlikely.

I just put on my MBRP Street last night, by the way very doable by one person and a set of ramps. The only complaint I have is that it is not loud enough. I am sure that it wll get deeper in tone as it breaks in. I have only driven about 20 miles and I felt zero loss in power. Car actually felt like is was less restricted, not so backed up. Windows up it actually sounds quieter, windows down and now you know you are driving a MUSCLE car. From behind totally new sound. I still wish it it was louder, but there is a difference. My wife says she likes it and it is loud enough. I'm sure my neihbors feel the same way.

This is odd to hear. I love my street setup. I went with this setup because it wasn't very loud and it's not that raspy. I definitely don't hear a fart sound. This is a street version so that means it's not supposed to be very loud. I drive on the highway a lot that's the big reason I bought this version. I've had nothing but good things said about the exhaust.

First negative comment hope it's just something not done right because for me I'm on the fence between Borla Atak and the street MBRP
Easy choice, anything but borla.

Hey guys, sorry for the inflammatory post. I was upset after waiting months for this to arrive, I had it built up in my head.

I think the performance thins is a combo of the computer needing to adjust a little after a few miles as was mentioned (I have a livernois tune, but I don't think that should matter) and the psychological aspect of it being louder and feeling it should be going faster. I still feel like the 60-80 acceleration isn't as hard as before, but as you all say, that just shouldn't be possible.

As for he sound –*well I'm coming from the 2007 4.6L GT w/ Ford Racing Sport / Borla exhaust. I really loved that combo –*the burbling back pressure sounds on deceleration were particularly nice. I don't know if any exhaust does that with this new 5L engine –*it just seems to wind down on decel without any fun exhaust note. Am I right that this isn't a characteristic that's possible with this engine? I know it sounds stupid, but I didn't realize what I liked about the old setup until I got this new one.

A few other things about how this MBRP street system sounds... on cold startup, it actually sounds really great. But warm idle is pretty much as quiet as stock –*not so good. Driving around at slow speeds has a nice growl to it. WOT is not so pleasant to me –*I know this is super subjective. I guess I just don't like the racy high tones – I was expecting more throaty roar like the what I had before. This sounds more like a high-revving import to me.

I am leaning towards getting the Ford Racing Sport like I had before. I know it won't sound like it did on my 4.6L, but can anyone comment?

And if anyone lives in the Bar Area that wants to buy this barely used MBRP Black Street setup, let me know...

They all make nice deep sounding exhaust, keep in mind your 2015 will never sound like your 07. It's a completely different motor.

Could also be your tune.

Good buddy what you are describing is there Race exhaust exactly. On decel mine will pop and make all kinds of funny noises lol. It is killer sounding. I will say for city driving I could not be more happy it sounds amazing super deep and about the perfect loudness. Enough to hear inside with windows open easily and others to hear it. Now if you drive highway the race def has a Drone to it. Shame you are not closer to me I would switch with you. I def agree man when I just drive around town and don't look down at my speedo I think I am flying but once looking at speedo I am going a lot slower than I think hahaha. Just loud and deep plain and simple.

You should have bought the race and not the street. But I have the street and I hear all different sounds when the rpms are dropping. I know a few people don't like it on this forum. Maybe just keep the h pipe and buy different axle backs. This is my plan after I get my truck.

I think the problem is that these cars are so well insulated. Have someone else drive off and listen to how loud it actually is. You will be surprised!

Yup, the Street sounds great when you listen from the outside of the car. Not bad in car just the insulation cuts down on how loud it really is. I felt the same way about the Ford Racing Sport when I drove a GT with it.

Would you say that you like the sound of the MBRP street better than the ford racing sport? And which one do you think was louder?
