For the person who makes maybe 20 passes a year down the 1/4 mile, would a supercharger be more cost effective with an Auto or a Manual? I believe the Auto would be more consistant but can an Auto really be any fun with forced induction?

Auto can be and is a kick in the ass with a supercharger. Pulls like a freight train, shifts incredibly well, lives on and knocks out 10.xx times with good tires.

The auto will be faster more consistently, is showing to be more reliable than the manual, and has paddles which make it more exciting than previous autos in the mustangs.

Still, it's an auto. You aren't driving the car, you're recommending things to your car. Hitting the paddle isn't like shifting a manual, it is delayed and doesn't always follow the leader the way you want. You have to learn the way the car responds to your commands, it isn't like the DCTs found in a BMW or the Porsche PDK. It's up to you for that trade off. 10/10 performance and 7/10 experience for the auto versus 7/10 performance and 10/10 experience for the manual.

You will have plenty of fun with auto. Faster and more consistent. I know lots of big power stick guys that will drive an auto with the same power and commit back on how much more fun it is driving the car.

I prefer a manual for mostly street use with a sprinkling of drag visits.

However, an Auto would be more cost effective. You wouldn't need to buy heavy duty halfshafts, a new shifter, or a new clutch which might need to be replaced sooner rather than later with a manual.

I'm having trouble locating vids with the Auto. Does anyone have any vids they can post? I'm curious how the car responds with the SC and Auto.

Haven't driven an auto have ya? The paddles, while delayed, are still gear to gear faster than a manual while still being smoother. Granted it's not a dct but it's so much better than outgoing buttons. It's useful. Not perfect but useful.

Op, there are a couple floating around here. Whipple has one somewhere.

Our VMP GEN II TVS powered 2015 has an auto, as does our 8 second 2011.

If you like rowing gears, by all means do what makes you feel best. But if effortless cruising and a quick ET matter, put it in Sport mode with the auto and let her eat.

I've driven the Mustang auto, I've driven a GTR, I've driven BMW DCTs and Volkswagon/Audi DSGs, and the 8 speed in the Vette. The German ones were nice, the GTR was surprisingly clumsy, the Vette was surprising, and the Mustang was decent.

Still doesn't change the fact that rowing gears and having complete control over your vehicle is a billion times more fun to me. That's what I'm saying. The only autos I'd consider taking over the manual were in the German vehicles. I voluntarily give up that speed that I'm losing by going manual, just so I can have more fun. If your want is strip use, then get the auto.

OP you need to find and drive em, only way to know for sure.

I agree big time why mess with a lackluster manual that was put in these cars. The times have changed of a manual being faster, I have read with the paddles the car reacts quite quickly. If I knew what I did now and didn't have a less than knowledgeable car salesman I would have ended up with an AUTO. Go fast without the effort what more can ya ask for.

If you go with the manual you'll need a clutch, shifter, and a new transmission eventually. I got rid of my manual 14gt that ran 11.5's at 120mph with bolt-ones for an auto 15, TVS is being installed as we speak.
