I could possibly weigh 3700lbs. According to Chevrolet 200lbs is the minimum weight lost on the new car. The 5th Gen 2SS weighed around 3900lbs, so 3700 is definitely not impossible.

The fact that the 275hp Turbo 4 can hit 60mph in under 6s, despite being 35hp down on the EcoBoost that does the same sprint in about 5.8s, shows that it is genuinely lighter or its powered by unicorn farts.

The LT1 has 617Nm of Torque, the Coyote has 542Nm, and the LGX V6 is far more potent, too. Throw in the 8-speed auto and a rev matching 6-speed manual and you have a very potent package (on paper, at least).

Appearances aside, it'll be a fast car. Ford needs to step up their game and get a better automatic transmission in the S550 and some more power from the engines. As much as people are sitting here throwing their best zingers at the Camaro, Ford will be sending about 20 tonnes of caffeine and overtime requests to their Engineers to get the Mustang on some steroids.

That's just my 2cents on the subject.

We actually know everything except weight.

Final gear ratio for the manual cars is 3.73 for the V8 and 3.27 for the i4 and V6. The Automatic is 2.77 for the V8 and V6 and 3.27 for the i4.
Ah missed that. 2.77 for a V8 sounds pretty crappy even if it is 8 speed. Assuming that the cars are near equal weight, wonder how it'd hold up against a 3.55 auto 5.0 even with the 20hp (as you said on paper at the flywheel not at wheels comparison) difference

Thank you my good sir I need to laugh.

A GT Killer? :headbonk:

Killing a car means everyone will be trading in their Mustangs and bowtie lovers will gobble them up like crazy. Judging from the replies of GM owners from other forums, its not a GT killer.

I wasn't holding my breath, and I'm very glad.

Loving my mustang. :headbang:

That sub 6 sec to 60 would likely be a product of the 8spd with 3.27 gears. Where does it say sub 6 btw? I haven't seen that quote yet.

Car and Driver quoted the "under six seconds" part and then noted how they'd done 0-60 in an automatic Ecoboost in 5.2 seconds. Automotive magazines use abusive launches to get times.

Also note that it's got an electronic "hand" brake, so not bootlegger turns.

Understood. But it appears Ford is trying to phase out the V6 in the Mustang. I would not be surprised at all to see it gone for the 2017 or 2018 model year. At that point I could see a 2.0 liter EB base model around 300 HP, a mid-range 2.3 EB around 340 to 350 HP and the 5.0 going direct injection for 450-470 HP. If I had to choose between a V6 and a turbo 4 at approximate HP levels I'd take the turbo four. That's just me. If you want a V6 Mustang I'd suggest getting one soon. I foresee a day without a V6 in the Mustang coming soon.
I agree with your first sentence. But it makes too much sense for Ford to offer a re-tuned version of the 2.7 V6 as a mid-range engine for the 2017 Mustang. I frankly don't see two four cylinder engines in the Mustang lineup, especially now that Camaro has gone to a 4-6-8 engine lineup. The 2.7 is a gem of an engine, and it is proving its durability in the F-150 lineup.

Agreed. Hardly a GT killer. Obviously the ball was in GMs court. They let Ford make the first move, not suprised, they usually follow suit. I will say the new camaro looks like a refresh of the last gen. The interior is an improvement over last year, but still not as good as the stang. The drivers area looks too busy and the passenger side looks bland. An improvement none the less. I'm sure Ford will respond, likely in their own time.

It will be interesting to see a good instrumented test of the new Camaro (looking at you, C&D). If Chevy claim under 6 seconds, I'm sure C&D could get it down to EB levels.

The Camaro will also be coming to Europe early 2016. Maybe this will FINALLY send a wake-up-call to Ford.

By that I mean, actually give us the model years in due time! As we get our 2015s delivered, people in the USA would've already driven, modded and reviewed the 2016s.

So if the 2016s are in production does that mean limited 2015 stock for Europe and RHD markets? When I go to place my order in February '16 will I be told "Too bad, no more left! Wait until the 2016 just as the USA get's their 2017s" ?

Sorry to go off on a tangent but I detest how Ford are handling their European launch. Meanwhile GM is throwing them at us around 2 months after their US launch in October/November. Unbelievable. :tsk:

I was 99% certain I'd pick up a Mustang GT next year, now I'm not so sure (if the Camaro comes to England, of course).
Last I heard, Chevy had no interest in producing a RHD version of the Gen6 Camaro. Just six weeks after Bob Lutz had said, ""I think you can pretty much count on a right-hand drive Camaro," he was forced to recant, saying that prospects for an export model were "Not good. It's been pushed back, perhaps indefinitely." Lutz had to admit that a right-hand drive Camaro was not that high on GM's priority list.

You can probably still import one if you want it that badly, but it will likely be an expensive purchase.

Oh I'm going 99% Mustang now (1% of me is still intrigued by the Jaguar XE, haha!)

No right hand drive, only available from a Cadillac dealer which is a stonking 8 hours drive from where I live... bah! If GM don't want to give me a proper car then they can keep it. They're only blocking out one of the most popular markets for 2 door sports cars in all of Europe, no biggie. ;)

They'll just sell a grand total of TWO Camaros for the entire year like they did in 2013. I think there were more S197s imported that year than Camaros sold through official channels. :D

Meanwhile the Ford Store is 10 miles from my house and the Jaguar/Aston dealer 4.5 miles. The car is cheap, all the kinks will be worked out by early 2016, we know its fast and it'll make mince meat of the Diesel BMWs every kid drives because they're cheap on Auto Trader, and it'll dwarf every Hot Hatchback that comes within 5 miles of it (exception: Mercedes A45). I'm more than happy with this.

Nothing special yet
Rear is ugly, but that's nothing new to me. Front is OK, no better than previous IMO. I like the side profile. I also like the fact they shrunk every dimension (height, length, width and wheelbase), I hope Ford does something similar with the next gen Mustang.
