M4 GTS won't have enough power/lose enough weight to keep up with the GT350R. It may be a handling battle with the regular GT350.

The mods are laughable for the premium BMW is going to charge.

And this is coming from a guy who used to race a few BMW's. I had to upgrade to a car with back seats so I got the stang.

Are you joking? This car will have around ~500 hp with its new water injection system. It will also be around 100 kgs lighter than the standard M4. So about 500 hp, 500 lb/ft, 3300 lbs, DCT, and you don't think it can keep up with a GT350R?

Of course whether or not it's "worth it" is another discussion. Doesn't matter to any of us as the GTS will be built in very limited numbers and they are most likely all spoken for. But to say it won't keep up with a $60k Mustang is silly.

I highly doubt they will get 500 hp from just water injection, which will have to be refilled often, and 100kgs lighter? the only thing they lightened was the hood (minor, was already aluminum) and also minor, the wheels. Adding a wing and splitter. Still thinking it will be a match for the GT350, not the R. New M3/4 is like the old m5's to me now, BMW has dropped the ball, otherwise I would be in one of those.

Man, BMW is really.... really trying now.

But 220lbs lighter? Unless it has no backseat and full CF bolt ons. Basically a M4 stripper..? Which is an oxymoron.

I do think it will have the performance of the GT350, but with it's stripper interior what would be the point of spending $80k for it? Honestly, BMW is trying too hard, instead of racing too hard.

BMW doesn't understand people are sick of their complacency and waiting games (marketing), nor does BMW understand that anyone can make a $80k car that can do what the M4 GTS does..? This car won't see the race track for another 2 years.... and the M2 is delayed and won't see the race track for another 2 years.

Very nice BMW... but when?

BMW has turned timid under the bean-counter regime. Why are they so afraid to PRODUCE these concepts?

its kinda funny to see people who can barely afford a 50k 350 or a 64k 350r talking smack about a tech master piece priced at around 120k LOL

and no you don't need to refill no water, they use water from AC, and no you don't evne need to worry about sub 0 temp either they have a pump to pump the water back to a bag so let it freeze or whatever won't break anything.

the e46 csl to this date is still a legend, 3.2L making over 360HP without direct injection. the e92 gts runs neck-and-neck with gt3. this one, for sure, will destory the 3700lb+ 350r in any performance tests, and it should be at 120k

Finally someone who gets it. Don't know if it'll "destroy" a 350R but I would definitely put money on it being faster. As it should be.

350R is faster than the GT3 around Grattan :gossip: This will probably be right around that level, if not faster.

Either way, I'm pumped to see this thing.

Watchu talkin bout Willis?

Are you saying it collects water from the AC condensation, and sprays that into your intake?

We'll see if they managed to dial in the handling. Honestly, the last thing the M4 needs right now is more power. It can't even use the power it already has. Hopefully the chassis improvements make the added power useful, rather than making the car oversteer more quickly.

And where did you read that crap? umm, as far as BMW has stated its basically an aftermarket water/meth setup so far. And what if you don't use AC. And if it does all that stuff you said, how much does that weigh? So much for losing weight.

Also, I can easily afford both, and have raced many much more expensive BMW's over the years (120K in just my last race car), but I've reached a time in my life where I need to throttle back for a year or two to make sure that I can ramp back up afterwards.

Again, BMW has dropped the ball lately, and is "racing" to catch back up. The M2 may come close to what they used to offer, but we shall see when it is finally released.
