My girl friend dove off my boat in 20 ft of water wearing her $850 designer sun glasses. I couldn't find them even after an hour of scuba searching. The previous year, a friend dropped his Rolex watch in nearly the same spot.
Holy cow, $850 for some sunglasses?

+1 for Maui Jims. I've forgotten what life was like before them.

I used to say the same thing, until I bought a set of nice sunglasses. Now when I put on my cheap pair (for riding rollercoasters and other dangerous sunglass activities), it feels like i'm wearing a 5-year old child's arts and crafts experiment.

I've had my $200 sunglasses for 8 years now. $25 a year is about what I used to spend on cheap sunglasses. Well worth it to get the good ones.

That's why all of my sunglasses cost $20 at the most. They can fly off my head with the windows down and I won't even have to turn around for them. The cheapies are worth way more for that peace of mind. I've had Armani's, DG's, Ray Bans you name it. It's all the same crap

OP - That sucks about the glasses :(.

I bought a pair of Prada sunglasses back in 2007 for $450 bucks down in South Beach @ the Prada store. We were on vacation there for a week for our 10th Anniversary.

Still have the glasses and wear them all the time. Still brand new. They have their own serial number on each lenses. Top materials and have never gotten loose nor needed adjustments. I tend to buy expensive stuff but it is always stylish and never breaks or goes out of style. But that is just my preference.

Happened to me once about 2 years ago just bought some $200 Maui Jim's a few hours later opened my hood and took off my glasses, closed my hood and went to put on my glasses, couldn't find them popped the hood and there they were. Bent to shit but lucky got them replaced under warranty. Good pair of polarized lense are amazing, and worth the cash. Also buy cheap 5 dollar glasses but only when I jet ski.

I buy the $10 ones at Walmart for this exact reason. It's the same crap without the brand name.

I used to wear Oakleys, that were around $100, but the ones you are talking about are more than double that... They make Oakleys feels cheap?

I will have to strongly disagree with you on that my friend. The old saying holds true in this case. "You get what you pay for". Albiet not in every case. As for the Armanis, they are very well made of high quality materials. They will last a very long time (unless you sit on them).
I have hed tons of "cheap sunglasses", as most people have. And they can't make it past one summer. Hell, you can just be sitting there and a lens will fall out.
I quit buying the cheap ones long ago.

"you get what you pay for"...I used to trailer a speed boat with my GT. I had trouble getting traction driving up a steel mesh boat ramp. My buddy drove while I pushed the car from behind. The steel mesh sheet broke loose and flew out the back of the car. It hit my wrist and spun me to the ground. I was afraid to look at my arm. My wrist was ok!!!but my very expensive titanium oyster shell dive watch had the face ripped completely open.
Best thousand dollars I have ever spent.

I would hate paying the $250 to get them in the first place - but that's just me.

But I understand.
you look like you're in the wrong forum....

Most I've ever spent was $175. Ray-Ban Wayfarers. Seen the prices for Maui Jims. Holy smokes.
