Ordered my mustang last week. Dealership refused to give me a DORA until I showed up again this Tuesday. Needless to say they've been slacking. Trying to be patient :headbonk: question:

Since The plant is shutting down in June, and tomorrow is the last day for placing an order, does that mean every last 2015 mustang will be built in May? I was told it could be 8-12 weeks before I see the car. This dealership is playing games with me! :paddle:

Mine said since they've just started building international units it could take considerably longer..

Ford is building Mustangs in June. Ordering for 2015's is just about done, but scheduling continues for a few more weeks with production running into July. 2016 Mustang production doesn't start until early August.

While we are at it, I'll throw the shutdown dates for the plant in here which support the production dates above....

The Flat Rock Assembly Plant is scheduled to be down the week's of:

- 6/15/15
- 6/22/15
- 6/29/15
- 7/6/15
Can someone confirm this?

I can tell you that I have plenty of Mustangs being built in June. I don't know which weeks, but I have lots of Mustangs promised by Ford for June production.

I would hope 2 weeks of June would turn out plenty of mustangs. Was watching a tour of the factory and it stated 500 cars per shift. Jeeden seems confident in his statements, and I'm still waiting for reply from ford service on the matter. Once the plant reopens it would be kind of dumb to continue making 2015s. Also, I would assume they wouldn't make 2015s along side 2016s but that's not until 8/3/15. Surely, they would use the period after reopening and first 2016 production to get ready in terms of parts? Idk. Getting my hopes up like an idiot wouldn't help, but it would be sweet to get the car somewhat early.

2015 Mustang production is scheduled to run through July 31st, so they are definitely building 2015's after the June break.

Is it normal for the plant to shut down in June and then open for 3 weeks before shutting down again in late July ready for production of the MY2016 model on August the 3rd?

  • 5/11/15 -16MY Order Bank Open Date
  • 6/11/15 -16MY Scheduling Begins
  • 7/31/15 -15MY Job Last Date
  • 8/03/15 -16MY Job #1 Date

Just wondering if it's possible that this shut down is to prepare for the production of the RHD versions?

It may be that between the 13th and 31st of July (3 weeks) that this is when they will be making the 1st batch of the RHD 2015 mustangs...
Based on 450 cars per day - over the 3 week period - they would make around 6750 cars.

That would make sense. Since international models have been shipped already.

They probably won't shut down to go to the MY16 mustang as they're mostly the same car. We're only shutting down for 2 weeks for routine maintenance and to install new equipment but our changeover won't require any down time for the MY16 truck. Now when we go to the aluminum truck that will change. I've heard a month for that next year. Don't know why they would need a month off unless maybe fusion sales have tanked. I think they both run down the same line. I could see having to make changes for the RHD cars though.
