Seriously considering a Mustang. Two questions.

You don't have to go PP. I decided not to because I knew I would just swap out the rims and tires anyway. Still trying to decide what I want, but the PP wheels didn't do it for me. The brakes are less of a concern to me -- they are better than base, for sure, but not $2000 better to me (regardless of whatever they retail for). I'm going to add the sway bars myself, though. That's about $500. And maybe a strut tower brace later, for another $200 or so. The gauge pack was absolutely meaningless to me, since you can get whatever gauges you want in the center screen (I like to leave it on the boost gauge, usually).

The 3.55 gears may be nice to have for you. I'm pretty sure the 3.15 in my automatic EB is why I can't quite match the magazine 0-60 and quarter mile times. I'm debating whether or not to put in 3.73 gears myself. The 3.15 gears that come standard with the auto, or the 3.31 with the manual, supposedly deliver better fuel economy though -- so consider that, too.

Anyway, the point is, if you only want one or two things from the performance package, consider doing it yourself for cheaper. Otherwise it's not a bad value for what you get.

As far as color... DIB all the way. I love this color. The only car that I liked as much was the Ruby Red -- but that cost extra, so for the same amount of like, I went DIB. It really changes color in the light. In bright sunny days, it sparkles and gets a deep, yet bright tone that is very close to a royal blue. Just a hint of purple that says "elegant."

At night, it's almost black, unless you are under bright street lamps, and then it just looks like a super-dark, deep blue that just has MEAN written all over it. A great color, overall.

I have Guard Metallic and I love it, it looks different in every type of lighting condition, but I think the best color I've seen so far for showing the body lines is actually "Ruby Red"!!

The EB PP brakes ARE BREMBOS.
Brembo makes more then 1 brake system. They make/design brakes for multiple car platforms.
The EB PP calipars are the same as on the NON-PP GT. They are 4 Piston Brembos without the Brembo label. Ford doesn't make their own brakes--or many parts theses days--all outsourced.

The PP GT brakes are different as they are the larger 6 Piston Brembo Calipers.

Both Brembos...the difference is in the 4 Piston used on 14 (13.9) in rotors on the EB PP/GT and the 6 Piston used on 15 in rotors on the GT PP.

In the past if you ordered two packages that each offered unique wheels such as the 50th Year Appearance package and the Performance Package Ford usually reduced the price of the package that "lost" the wheels...since your paying twice for unique wheels but only getting 1. In the past it was a $500 reduction. why they aren't doing this for 2015's...I guess because they can....

While obviously looking different the EB PP wheel and the 50 yr Appearance wheel are the EXACT same size (this only applies to EB cars). While Ford won't option the spare with the EB PP you can order the spare kit for about $200 from any dealer and drop it in the back. It fits....

The EB PP does have summer rubber. You'll burn them up in about 20k miles. At that time you can replace them with the all season tire that comes with the 50th Ann Package wheel for longer longevity (miles) and very slightly higher mpg.

As tot he grills- huge difference but a personal choice. The normal EB grill sits almost flush with the face of the car. Recessed only about 1 in from the leading edge of the hood. The 50th App Grill is like the GT grill and recessed about 3 in "in" from the leading edge of the hood. This creates a greater sense of "depth" with the mouth opening of the car... which some prefer and some don't- strictly your call.

If your going to order you need to do so NOW. Not sure of the cut off ordering date-it may have already passed.

I don't like the 50th anniversary package, I think the frong grill is ugly and mostly tailored for the older folks who may have had the older mustangs. It's 2015, get with the times.

My 2 choices on color was white and dib, went with white and love the color. Make sure you look at both colors side by side if possible. View them in sunny conditions, cloudy, and at night. Either way you cannot go wrong. Another color that looks awesome is the magnetic, very time I see that color I'm impressed.

I was going between DIB, Ruby and OW, I finally decided on DIB, I also got the 50th, but no PP since I got an auto. I figured if I was going to get a 2015 it would have to be a 50th, otherwise I would just order a 2016. Also I ordered the car on my 50th birthday so that played a part in my decision.

I had a fiesta st in DIB. I ended up not liking it. It looked purple under certain lighting situations. Do you want a car that looks purple?
As far as the PP. It's up to you. I wouldn't as I don't want a stiffer suspension or the bigger wheels. I'm all about comfort in my stang. The meaty tire and softer suspension makes my mustang feel more like a luxury car than sports car. If you're looking for more sport than luxury then get it.
Also with gas prices rising I wouldn't even consider a gt. That's just me though.

The GT brakes/EB PP brakes are a 4 piston Brembo design....aka Brembos.
Not sure who builds them for Brembo (and don't really care)....

Brembo doesn't build everything themselves...much is outsourced for the physical construction. Do you think that Saleen and Roush have been making their own brakes...no, they are designed by Brembo and then a "local" label gets slapped on them. Brembo has a huge park of the international brake market-well beyond Ford, GM etc. Same thing with Corvette 6 piston brakes introduced on the C6 Z06 (and later C6 Grand Sport)...Brembos with a Corvette label.

EDIT: I gotta guy I work with at Ford dealing with motors/smog issues related to CA Air Quality Resources Board. I'll call tomorrow morning and see if he can advise off the record...Brembo designed and outsourced or a pure independent 4 piston design. He will know who to call within to find out. I'll advise up or down as I have no skin in this game.

I've had lots of dark colors cars and truck. This is my first white car and I love it. It really hide the dirt. For the PP I would have thought for my DD this maybe to rough. No way this thing rides nice and with the 3.73 gear is great even in traffic. Resale value is going to be better with the PP in the long run. And for tires I like having 2 sets. Good luck with whatever you get and you'll enjoy it for sure! White will show more of the lines that the car has!
