Why I HATE parking lots... What to do?

I'm no forensic investigator, but just thinking that it's possible that the damage may have been caused by a shopping cart being inadvertantly pushed by another vehicle. That could explain the mark patterns and the severity. Who knows? The only thing definate is that it's a damn shame.

Yeah I have gotten a scratch in the front bumper and on the rear it seems someone hit my car while parking. I park away from everyone but it seems that is not good enough and while yours is worse than mine I feel your pain.

Sunday I parked at my local store on post away from all the other cars. As I was coming out a guy parked his car right in front of mines pretty close, in other words front bumper to front bumper. He didn't know that I was the owner until I passed him up. I then ask myself why would he do such a ignorant thing. The potential to hit another car is greater when you park next to someone. Their were 30 different open spaces in the area and which some spaces were even closer to the store from where I was. addle:

I don't park mine in any parking lot! If I take it to a store for a fast in and out I park way out and take up two spots.

Not for nothing, but if you take up two spots, somebody's gonna hit you intentionally just for being "that guy."

I don't get that damage, its a slashing line from top to bottom, looks like it pushed in a lot! the horse emblem has a slash in it, so the entire front end took a good compressing.

The hood, front bumper, supports, etc all can be affected.

But if it was a car that hit you it would be worse and in more areas. Maybe it was a shopping cart? Mystery at 11...

You have to ask yourself do you want this fixed right and correctly? If so pay the $500.00... You can have your Mom call the insurance company and straight ask them if you will be dropped for another claim.

I agree, the damage doesn't make any sense. I hope this is not because someone's been jelly

Dang. I was fussing over my car rolling back into the garage recently and that damage literally buffed off. There have been a lot of folks here who got their babies damaged within the first few weeks of ownership, this stuff happens and you learn to live and do your best to take care of your baby and restore it. At least we dont have 6 figure-7 figure collector cars, think of the paranoia those guys have!

1) on this forum, a guy whose car got hailed at when he was in the DMV registering his new car!
2) fellow on this thread
3) Oppo who had someone back into his car on his way to work
4) fellow at the gym whose new V6 15 was smashed into by a girl doing an illegal U-turn, 2nd day of owning it.

The good news is the damage is cosmetic and mostly on plastic parts that are sacrificial in nature - no long term rust issues. I would not go through insurance, the damage is likely to cost 1K-1.2K and the insurance rate rise at your age wont be worth it. Save up until you have the coin to fix it and do it right. No taping over nonsense, you will always know what lies beneath and never be happy (ok, I wouldnt be happy).

Thank you to all my Mustang buddies on here who gave their grievance and input-- I love you guys a lot for sticking here through this pain with me! lol

So just some news; I took her to 5 different auto body shops around town and each one of them gave me an estimate of around $260-$280, which to be honest, was not as bad as I was thinking it would be. I almost sh*t my pants when I took it to our Ford dealership and they told me it would be $885 (not including a new bottom bumper for it, which would be $250 more). One guy in the background gave me an idea when he mentioned a touch-up pen.. For $11.60, I could go home, apply it to the paint, and if I don't like it, just go ahead and get the new paint job done like I was going to do to begin with. So my Ford dealership gave me this Motorcraft PQ paint pen for my 'Stang and I followed all the necessary instructions when I got home....

I can not say that while it's not the best thing that could have been done to make it look superb, it does indeed help the looks by about 80%. It did a better job at making that big chunk of fiber exposed to be covered up and hardly unnoticeable on the snout of the hood than it even did the front panel underneath the grill! I'm going to see how this feels with me for a few days and if it doesn't stay up to my liking, I am just going to bite the bullet and take it to a body shop who offered to do it for me for $260. I'll send you guys some pics on here when the sun comes around and I have free time, hehe.

Breaks my heart when I see things like this. There is no respect for other peoples property, and when you try so hard to avoid that very thing it still happens. Why is it that we have to take extra precaution in order to feel safe. The OP did everything in his power as most us do with our prized possession, yet some asshole deliberately fucks up his car.

The person who did this if ever found...hit an run charges ans string the bastard up by his balls

I'm one of those statistics too. I had my car something like 4 days. My son had just come home from weekend drills with the Nat. Guard and brought a friend home to work on his '04 GT with a manual trans.
He let him sit in my car, crank it up and then he jumped out of the car not checking the shifter. My new car with 250 miles on it slammed into the house causing close to the same damage as OP's. $1500 to replace the nose, grill and splitter.

I learned to deal with this kind of things and just let it go. A Truck's hub cap flied off at intersection and and hit my front driver side fender. By the time I made a U turn to chase the car it was long gone. Made a big dent with paint damage, ended up repair it out of my own pocket for 500$.

Pics as promised this morning! Give me your input on what could be worked on! I feel like it's not so bad--- I believe the long 40 degree angled dent stands out more than the scratches on the paint itself that I attempted to cover up.. Do any of you guys know some good home remedies (or even a dent removing device that I can go and buy that will give me a good result)?
