I have three college degrees, zero student loans, zero credit card debt, zero car payment, one house loan at $100K which I bought 4 years ago.
My job: I educate the young
My income: $42K
My wife's income: $36K
Our secret: Spend wisely
THE secret to making it in this world! together, wife and i are at about 110k. (she out earns me.... ) so, by no means "rich" but, happy and comfy and bought a house on acreage AND the new car.

spend wisely and when you have all of these things, they are not status symbols, they are things that you have earned with your own hard work, and THAT is satisfying.

I'm curious what GT owners on here do for work and what they earn. I only ask because I'm wondering if maybe I'm overreaching myself financially. The Mustang I want comes out to ~42k.. I only make about 62k/year, so it sounds stupid as all hell to spend that much of my salary on a car.

I can afford the payments incredibly easily (I have a car right now worth ~22k trade-in, and I have a bit over 100k saved up), but I donno.. bit of a nagging feeling that I shouldn't be buying a car at 2/3 of my annual salary just because I can do it. Then again, I can't imagine everyone on here is a 6 figure earner, either, so I guess I'm wondering if people buying these things are in similar situations to me, or drastically better-off.
You'll be fine! Plenty in the bank... Just do it! Treat yourself

24, electrical engineer for an oil/energy consulting firm. 60k/year before OT, actual pay ranges between 60k-75k. I'm also in Louisiana where living is cheap so that's plenty for my area.

Asking "what do you do for a living" is PERFECTLY ok BUT, asking how much other people is earning is getting bit too personal without explaining the specific reason. That's my thoughts anyway...

What?!?

Under what specific reason would it not be tacky to ask about someone's income on a internet forum about Mustangs?
