Hello everyone!

Since I'm not only new here but new to the mustang world in general, is there anything I should keep in mind when I go test drive this saturday? I plan to drive all 3 engines to see how I feel. Obviously, I know I will love the GT but I am really considering the ecoboost

Please, let me know what I should keep in mind or consider. I'm coming from a 2014 Veloster Turbo so I'm expecting that no matter what I drive it's gonna feel alot faster

Also, I plan to try and drive a manual but I'm still pretty new to it, should I try and go for it or just take an auto out for now? I will buy a manual no matter what though

drive the manual, you need to see if you can find a comfortable seating position with the clutch pedal.

Drive an auto first so your first impressions are muddled by you getting into the swing of things by trying to just drive it smoothly. Know that it'll feel huge and arguably even cumbersome to begin with; the hood will dominate your frontal vision. You get used to that very quickly during ownership.

If you're planning on an EB, make sure you drive one with the performance package, then get some time with a manual.

Alright then...I'll probably try it with a v6 or ecoboost since I am so new to manuals. Not to mention, I am also new to v8s

Thanks for the info, yeah the closest thing I think I have driven would probably be my 1997 v6 camaro, and even that is a whole different thing

I do feel like I will just focus on driving an auto v6 or EB first so I can get a feel for the car in general

Honestly, I am scared to consider driving a GT, since I have never had a car that powerful and also because I know I'll fall in love with it and won't even be able to consider the EB anymore [emoji12]

I wouldn't recommend driving a manual on a test drive if you're new to it, it'd just be a distraction and make it harder to guage the differences.

Also remember to put them in sport mode as it changes the characteristics significantly.

Since you are considering the EB just note that it loses at least 10% of its power when using regular vs premium gas and dealerships will always fill up with regular

Well, so far I am looking at a few different options for what I actually want to buy.

There is an ecoboost premium in Magnetic that I really want (not sure if it has the PP) and the site has it listed for 28k

Then, there is a Magnetic GT base that is listed at 30k that I plan to look into as well

And of course, there is a TY GT with PP and Recaros and the dealer has it listed at 33k

I need to find a thread and see what people are able to negotiate on these things, hopefully the website numbers arent too low and I can negotiate even further down

Advice: know what things will make you happy before you get there. Figure out your top 5 most important attributes and rank them before you go. Things like sound, part-throttle acceleration, fuel economy, handling nimbleness/grip, packages/technology...

I'd seriously consider going the x-plan route instead of haggling with them. Some people say they have beat the x-plan pricing, but never seem to mention what their document fees were (capped under x-plan) and if they still got the incentives.

MSRP on our GT Premium was ~39,400, x-plan price was ~37,100, then $1250 of rebates on top of that. Only paid $75 as a document fee instead of the $250 they normally charge.

If you are not good at a manual I'd test drive all 3 engines in automatic first. I'd go V6, Eco, GT. Then whichever you like best try it in a manual.

Don't let the GT name change your perception on the Eco vs GT. Personally I would recommend renting an Eco for the day (I got one for $48/ day at enterprise). I ordered my GT before I got the opportunity to really give the Eco a good run and man was I impressed with what it had to offer. The power was overwhelming and I'm now terrified of what the GT has in store for me.

This is also my first mustang/ custom order as well as rear wheel drive vehicle.

Oh yeah, don't think that the "sport" steering weighting means it'll feel "sportier."

It just makes the car feel like someone tacked on 200lbs of ballast to the front axle. My impression of the steering improved as soon as I stopped defaulting to that steering weight.

In order to get xplan you need to either get it through your employer or join a club like EAA

From the sound of it, they are well under the xplan pricing on their stickers. Like wayyy below.
