With 1964 built is is rare, get over your insecurity and jealousy.... but that is not the point. The point is that with Ford making a big deal about the LE cars--special introduction of the LE at the April 2014 50th celebrations by Bill ford arriving in one, shipping the cars is special protective wrappers, blah blah blah you would think they (Ford) would be sure that those cars would be 'perfect'. And the fact they aren't tells you what has happened to Quality being Job 1.

If you dig into it-talk to people at Ford- I have, you will find that Ford has changed their QC specs (Fields is very much a numbers guy not a car guy)...Ford has relaxed standards a wee bit (all lines, not just Mustang) as to what is acceptable "in spec" and what isn't in terms of QC getting vehicles out the door and what they will pay in terms of dealerships making corrections.

There is also serious issues as to the robots being used and the current capability of Ford's production robotic line being able to handle tighter fitment specs as more and more flexible (read nonmetal) materials are put into use as body panels that flex during install. This is happening within the industry and not just Ford.

It is called- thin non-metal materials, lighten the vehicle, CAFE requirements while keeping comfort and performance figures people want..... all part of the equation.
Exactly!!!! Very well said. It boggles my mind when someone claims that a car that only has 1,964 built isn't rare. There is absolutely no excuse for bad QC on the limited editions. People who accept it for what it is, only emboldens Ford to have crappy QC in the future.

I remember when the Dodge SRT Viper was literally falling apart during a test drive on Car and Driver. Literally pieces falling off of it.

But, I also know it wasn't a representation of the best they could do.

I remember that as well (although I remember it being Motor Trend).

What I found ironic was that they had a similar situation with the Z06 when they tested it against the GT-R. I even made a joke on the corvette forums that it seemed like Dodge must have sent the Vette over.

I love when people don't take the time to actually read what they are responding to. If you had, you would see I am just concerned that a lot of the issues currently being shown may possibly carry over.
Really you need to learn to read.

I read it, maybe you should look at what section you posted in.
I agree with Hack, this car is on of the most exciting cars
to come along in quite a while, even more so if you factor in
likely costs of it. I will deal with a few teething issues.

Vette engines blowing up,were a problem, they were finding filings in engine.

I have to add my .02 cents in here...Talk about "nit-picky" so the fenders are not perfect !! now were not talking about huge gaps or half inch off alinements here, most people are using the term perfect ! come on ...we are talking about a 65K car thats not that much...for a hand bulit engine, and mixing plastic, alumin, and steel and trying to line them all up.....NOW if we were talking a about a new rolls royce phantom, or bugatti veyron....yes it needs to be perfect, but come on.....

^WHat???? The alignment issues on the 30k variant of the Mustang.... Yes, I would accept this and still appreciate the car....But now you're paying 60k+ for ....a super premium limited Mustang.

The quality compared to the base entries should be leaps and bounds above and beyond what we're already accustomed to.

Don't prepare yourself to accept less or the equivalent QC for more than double the money. That's just not acceptable in any book. Otherwise...just buy a base model V6 and pay me the 35k to align it correctly.

Had a M4 on order. When preliminary info was released on the GT350 I let my order come and go. In hindsight the M4 just isn't all that great. From what I've heard (don't know if it's true) they're not selling all that well.

The GT350 looks better. It has a swagger that the M4 doesn't match. The M4 is direct competition for the GT350 to be certain but I'm glad I passed on it.

The GT350 has everything going for it in terms of performance and character, and there's no reason why it shouldn't be a capable daily driver as well. But for as much of a case one could make by saying the M4 is competition, it's serving a demographic that's looking for that added level of luxury and wider range of capability. It's a luxury DD that you can take to the track and the GT350 will be vice versa; a track day car that you can DD.

Both great choices for different buyers.

F82 M4 with a 500 dollar jb4 tune can surely give gt350 a run for its money. Stock people are getting ~410whp with a tune its closer to ~470whp.

When I put my deposit down I made a comment to the GM, I said if this thing is gonna cost more than m4 I am going to pull out.

all great points guys, i agree on all accounts on the 350 because a much better looking car. I test drove my buddys M4 with KW coilovers. The car is responsive as HELL in the handling dept, lighter car.. ... not so much lag at all from the turbos and the power and tq is really that great! We tracked her as well....my E92 M3 is track prepped fully with the suspension and 6Pot Stoptech's ...the M4 lap times were quicker and all he had again were KW Coilovers. I was actually taken back...but the noise isnt for me..... im a V8 guy...but the M3/M4's are really that good. Believe me.

Yes a Stripped one is $70k which i would get...... the 350R will be around the same price...maybe higher with these crooks at the stealerships. Either way....both cars are great but i'd opt for the 350..its that much special and not that many will be made and ..........its Merica!

M4 stripped is $70K.
Stipped, meaning bare, is $65k. Cloth/leather, 6MT. Adding a metallic paint and extended leather puts it at $66k.

You can add options that people would consider "must haves" like the various paints, leather, adaptive suspension, bluetooth, and upgraded audio and barely crest over 70k. So I wouldn't call that stripped, especially given the amount of standard features.
