Iron X...

Don't spray Iron X on a convertible soft top. Wash off the purple solution which forms when the Iron X dissolves iron. Don't let it dry on the paint. Don't apply it with the car sitting on concrete. The Iron X may try to dissolve any iron particles that might be on the concrete surface and stain it purple. I use it with the car sitting on asphalt.

Any chances of the Iron-X causing damage or staining? I am not familiar with it.

This is what I was worried about. I've got a the car and a bottle of Iron X on order. Will try it out on my DD, then try it on a low quarter panel on the mustang first. If all is well then I'll do the car.

My car arrived today in Nanaimo, yours should get there soon. As for the Iron X, there is nothing on your car that will be negatively effected by the product. I try and avoid the plastic trim pieces, but don't worry much about it. To make the product spread easier, I always have the car wet. Then spray the product on a panel and I spread it with a dedicated (very soft) sponge that is only used for Iron X. This will help to reduce overspray to areas you want to avoid. IE: spray in the centre of the door and spread up to the molding, rather than trying to spray and avoid it.

Given that the Iron X process is done after the car is completely washed and free of dirt, there is no risk of inducing damage to the paint from the sponge, it is barely touching the paint, just enough pressure to move the product around. Also, make sure I rinse the sponge before I use it, and again after a go round with Iron X - it also gets stored in a large Zip Lock bag. (very OCD)
