Brought car in, they scanned the code, they tell me broadcast message from Ford says they have no fix. I called and asked over the phone if this was the case prior to bringing the car in (bot ford customer relations & the dealership), they said they didn't know.

Wasted my morning. YAY!! All I can say right now is F#&k this car and F#&k Ford.

After my pickup from the dealership, the check engine light had come on. Then it went off after a while but would show P0300 still with my code reader. So it was hidden.

Then when the tank was empty, I ran some Chevron Techron fuel cleaner into it, filled up with 91. I also reset the code manually once again with my code reader.

The light has been off for .. I dont know 100 miles? It has completed its drive cycle and all the monitors are ready. The code reader is showing 0 DTCs and the light is green.

How long it will stay like this I'm not sure and whether or not the fuel cleaner was responsible, who knows. But right now I have 770 miles on the car and the CEL is off AND my code reader is showing no trouble codes and all monitors are ready. Never happened before so I'll keep updating.

My hope is a) fuel cleaner did the job b) the car's ECU is relearning stuff and the code goes away naturally.

it could come back though..

It will comeback. It all depends on the conditions outside after an extended period cold start. If the conditions are right the CEL will come back. from what I can tell if temps drop a decent amount after being warm the day before it comes back.

Mine's been going on and off completely on its own. I'm really starting to think it's a software issue. It went off 2 days ago after being on for 3. When it goes on it's always right after start up. My guess is sometimes when the clutch is let out right after start up the software interprets the slight drop in rpms as being caused by a cylinder misfire.

Mine also, when it goes ON, it will be on a cold start. The idle will fluctuate almost like you have a dirty throttle body. but recently it's been fine. cant wait until the break in period is over.. 200 more miles.

Interesting...have you been keeping the clutch down for a second or two after start? Limit the software detect that drop in rpm?

good luck

Thanks. Haven't done anything out of the ordinary. I think your idea makes sense, but I don't want to try to provide an artificial fix. If it is software, Ford should be able to come up with some new code.

I say as long as it's running great let's enjoy it and not let a cel that's probably meaningless take the fun out of it. It's a bit of a drag to have any kind of issue with a brand new car, but at least it seems to be something harmless.

Saw this in the other cel thread posted today:

Mustang Ecoboost check engine light
I had the same check engine light on my mustang ecoboost with less than 300 miles. The dealer reset the light and told me it was a soft ware problem. The update should be in the dealers within two weeks. My car runs fine and I'm happy with it.

Alright guys, im new to the forums and mustangs, fell in love with this car but i got a CEL light also. I took it to the dealer and they cleared the code. I forgot to ask for the code but the VHR tells me this:

The Service Engine Soon light indicates the powertrain control module has detected an engine misfire condition caused by poor fuel quality or a powertrain malfunction. This can result in excessive exhaust temperatures that could damage the catalytic converter, the fuel system, interior floor coverings or other vehicle components, possibly causing a fire.

They cleared it like i said, the next day it came back on, but now coupled with this on the VHR:

What should I do if the warning light remains illuminated after ensuring the parking brake is not engaged? If the brake system warning light remains illuminated with the parking brake fully released, the brake system should be immediately inspected. Contact an authorized dealer as soon as possible.

What should I do if the warning light turns off when the parking brake is not engaged? If the warning light turns off when you fully release the parking brake, run another Vehicle Health Report with the parking brake released. Make sure the vehicle service (regular) brakes are applied and your vehicle is in park (P) (vehicles with an automatic transmission). Running a Vehicle Health Report with the parking brake engaged may have generated the initial brake system warning notification.

The car runs fine but i notice that on a cold start the motor jumps a little like a miss fire. But then it runs fine at NRT.

Disappointed.....very disappointed but im sure we will get some answers. taking it to the dealer for the second time

I have about 2600 miles on my Ecoboost and I have been experiencing the same "misfire" type issue when I start the car for the first time in the morning when the temps are in the low 30's. Once the car warms up and after I restart the car, no more issue. Any start above 40 degrees and the issue does not occur.

No CEL at this time though. Other than that, the car has been quite enjoyable to drive everyday.

Just wondering if anyone is checking with dealerships on a regular to see if there is a TSB out for our CEL's.
