I see your point. If I owned a 5.0 Coyote i would never go looking for a 3valve 4.6 liter. However, at it's launch the 3V4.6L made Wards Top Ten Best Engines. The 400+HP LS3, 5.0Coyote, 7.0L Hellcat etc are all better engines for more TQ and HP. Given that the 5.0L Coyote and 4.6L 3V both weigh 413 pounds and have identical mount points and deck height, I have flirted with a FRPP engine swap. I made the most of what I have. The biggest difference was the kevlar/carbon clutch. Since I paid for the install, I did an alum flywheel, single tube alum drive shaft, short throw shifter, and 3.73 ring gear all at one lift. I felt the 4.6L had more than the drive line was taking advantage of. I was right. After the mods, the GT accelerated like it had 400 HP. The 5.0 rules, but the 4.6L 3 valve is not a toy.Camaro stopped selling in 2002. From 2003-2008 there wasn't any other 2 door muscle car on the market. In 2009 the Camaro SS put out 426 HP compared to 305 in the GT 4.6, which was rectified in the 2011 MY with the 5.0. Also starting late 2008 there was also the Challenger that put out (IIRC) 370 HP from the 5.7.
Up until 2004, the 4.6 put out 260 HP which was respectable at the time. I wouldn't own a 4.6 3V if you paid me to have it, but to each their own. I am a little rusty, but it seems the V6 from 2009-2010 put out just a few HP less than the V8. Although my opinion is that the 6cyl Camaro and the Mustang is both the sweet spot in terms of price and performance.
Hellcat...and the swag it brings to the rest of the lineup by association. The Challenger is based off of a 20 year old Mercedes platform and hasn't had a redesign since it came out a decade ago. How do sales keep increasing every year???
Nice car and mods man, I bet that's one hell of a ride. Plus it's fun to mod something up that makes it "yours".
Looks really sharp. Thanks for the compliment, I included a photo above.

Love the yellow and blue contrast.I see your point. If I owned a 5.0 Coyote i would never go looking for a 3valve 4.6 liter. However, at it's launch the 3V4.6L made Wards Top Ten Best Engines. I love my GF's Ford Edge Sport...gets as much or more attention than my mustang!
For sure.Unfortunetly them being everywhere might turn buyers away.
Nice.I love my mustangs but when I was looking for one it had to be unique in some way and not just buy a common gt and do things but unique from the factory which is why I got a ct gt with the glass roof.
And not surprisingly...Love my mustang but man..... They really are everywhere
Agree, the upward sales trend should continue....I hope. The impressive part about these numbers is that a lot of North America was still thawing out for most of March. Here in Windsor (right across from Detroit) we haven't really had too many "Mustang weather" days yet. Sales should continue to increase as it warms up.
GM did have a two-door muscle car during the period you quoted, the GTO. I personally know a lot of people who bought one because no Camaro was available and they would not consider buying a Ford.Camaro stopped selling in 2002. From 2003-2008 there wasn't any other 2 door muscle car on the market. In 2009 the Camaro SS put out 426 HP compared to 305 in the GT 4.6, which was rectified in the 2011 MY with the 5.0. My 2005 GTO might disagree with that...From 2003-2008 there wasn't any other 2 door muscle car on the market.
