Well, my mufflers arrived today, and they are on the car!:D

Install wasn't too bad at all. Of course, my sawzall blade was a bit too long, and I cut a nice little gouge thru the fuel tank guard when I cut the left hand pipe. Luckily, it didn't hit the actual tank at all. I took metal snips to the blade and cut about 1/2" off, and had zero problems with the other side.

These things sound GREAT! There is no rasp, and they have a nice, deep growl. It is definitely louder than stock, so it is much louder inside, especially when you open the throttle up. My neighbors were very impressed with the sound and they are both car guys.

You can actually hear what the engine is doing now, so I'm happy. I am driving to Virginia next week, so I'll be able to see how the noise level is on a long trip.

It also seems like the throttle is a bit more responsive, but that may be an illusion. I'll see if I can't get a 0-60 time down soon. Previously my best was 5.9.

I took video with my cell phone, both before and after install, but the sound isn't very good, and they sound pretty raspy, which they aren't in person. Of course, it may also be my laptop speakers... I'll play with it over the next couple days - checking with headphones, and if the sound is still bad I'll crank out my video camera.

Bottom line - I REALLY like the sound of these!!! :clap2:

Ugly John can you take a picture of your car with the exhaust and upload a sound clip of it if you can? Just curious as to what this sounds like compared to the rest.

Here's what I got from my phone - it's not as bad as I thought when using headphones. Now that I know, I'll try to get some more video...

Damn that's a loud exhaust. Sounds good. Do you still have the resonator?

Yes, it has the resonator on it still. It really isn't incredibly loud, but this is what I posted on the sound clip thread:

"I just drove 10 hours to Virginia, and good grief do these things drone like mad on the highway! I couldn't even hear semi's when I was passing them. My ears are still ringing. The car is not drivable with these things on it, but I still have the 10 hour drive home to look forward to on Monday. :headbonk:

I'll be contacting Flowmaster, because this is not a "mild increase in interior noise" like they advertised. Not sure if they will do anything, or if there is anything I can do to fix the drone. I may just be asking someone to pass the salt for the $400 loss I'm eating...:( Glad I at least saved the old ones.

And oh yeah - I lost about 3 mpg on the highway from my last trip up. At Christmas I got 28 mpg at 80 mph, this time I got 25 mpg, but kept it at 77 just trying to keep the drone down."

I was getting all excited about these, but not anymore. Is it only bad at a certain speed/rpm?

From about 1800 to 2500 rpm, so just over 70mph is stats getting bad, then by 80 it's fricking awful.

It's also droning during acceleration, but that was mostly livable - I just floored it to get up to 3000+rpm and it had a great growl, then dropped right in to low gear so the rpms were back around 1500 and it purred.

I'm going to see what Flowmaster has to say...

Side note: There is a guy on the general forums asking if anybody in CA drives a 15' Mustang V6 because apparently Borla is going to develop a system for our car and they need an R&D car. He also said you will be receiving a free Borla system if you lend them the car. If anybody is in CA, go check the thread out ASAP

Well, another 10 hour drive home yesterday, and my ears are still ringing....:headbonk:

I was up in VA for my niece's wedding, so I didn't have time to do anything about it, but I did call Flowmaster today. The tech rep hadn't heard of any problems, but he said he would R&D and call me back. Still no word. He thought it weird that I had that much noise...

We'll see, and I'll keep everyone posted.

I finally had a chance to do a couple 0-60 runs today. Before, I ran a couple 5.9's.

Today, with the Flowmaster's (and their increased performance) I ran......

6.7 and 6.9 :frusty:

Still waiting for a call back from the tech dude.

Zackmd1's axle-back seems to be the best...

Seriously doubt the mufflers are hurting your performance that bad

Not sure what else it could be - only other thing I did was install a K&N air filter. Oh, and tinted the headlights.:D

Tire pressure is the same, launch was the same, but it was 85 here yesterday, compared to the 50's when I last ran the 0-60 timer
