Question.

The detailed description of the Eibach springs on Latemodel restauration lists a pretty wide range of adjustment for the camber on these cars.

Anyone have instructions on how to adjust it and what the true limits are?

Thanks!

Looks like the front can be dialed to -1.6 and the rear to -2.

Front Specs
OE rate: 28 N/mm (160 lbs/in)
SPORTLINE progressive rate: 38 - 58 N/mm (217 - 331 lbs/in)
Bump-stop: New Eibach bump-stop
Damper: OE
Tubing: Yes
OE wheel center to fender: 396 mm (15.6 in)
SPORTLINE wheel center to fender: 357 mm (14.1 in)
SPORTLINE can be aligned to OE Specs: Yes
Front Alignment:
OE Camber = -0.8 deg (+/-0.8 deg)
OE Caster = 7.2 deg (+/-0.8 deg)
OE Toe = 0.00 deg (+/-0.2 deg)
SPORTLINE Camber = -1.2 deg
SPORTLINE Caster = 7.5 deg
SPORTLINE Toe = 0.2 deg

Rear Specs
OE rate: 117 N/mm (668 lbs/in)
SPORTLINE progressive rate: 154 - 174 N/mm (879 - 994 lbs/in)
Damper: OE
Bump-stop: New Eibach bump-stop
Tubing: Yes
OE wheel center to fender: 387 mm (15.2 in)

Front has no adjustment available, you have to add camber plates such as Maximum Motorsports has available.

Rear upper control arm is slotted and allows some adjustment.

Alright. Thanks.
Any idea how much the rear can be tweaked?

Anyone have camber bolts out for the S550's front yet? I saw the camber plates, but they offer very little adjustment and are quite pricey.

Just a word of advice, pulling as much camber out of the back as possible will help with traction and wheel hop. ;)

Unless the car is dedicated, or catered towards corners....I recommend pulling the rear camber as far towards positive, as you can.

We do not plan on releasing an adjustable UCA anytime soon...but I think Steeda will be. I have seen it in person, and it looks pretty nice. A good choice will be to grab an adjustable UCA/Camber Link when they are available, and set the static camber in the -.05 to -.15 range. (if traction and wheel hop characteristics are important)

Kelly,
What is BMR working on for cradle alignment for the S550?

We have a cradle re-enforcement brace, that acts as a jacking point, centering device and re-enforces the cradle.

The red pieces will come standard in our CB005 Kit. The CB005 Kit centers the cradle, reduces cradle movement fore/aft/vertically and like stated above, adds a nice convenient jacking point.

We are not sure at this time if we are going to offer those red pieces (braces) in the pics above, separately or not.

The other options, which we are releasing very soon, are the Delrin Cradle Bushing kits (BK048)...or the Poly Cradle Bushing Kit (BK047).

Both kits (047/049) will center the cradle, while also eliminating cradle movement.

The front camber IS adjustable per the factory service manual. This is done by slotting the upper spindle to strut flange hole up to 2 millimeters in either direction. Bolts are 16 mm and specified torque is 184 lb-ft.

Not factory adjustable you mean, rather shadetree adjustable using power tools. Your average alignment shop will balk at doing that. Yes, us more hardcore handling types think it is fine, but we are self admittedly strange.

So... Won't camber bolts fix that shortcoming?

Depends on how you define "factory adjustable" :) If the dealer tech is authorized to do this per factory specified procedures then it isn't only "shadetree".

The S197's have the same procedure except the hole to modify is the lower one. FYI this is extremely relevant to SCCA Stock/Street class autocrossers since it is the only "rule compliant" method allowed and is greatly appreciated by us. :) Lots of enthusiast cars do not have any adjustment authorized by the service manual and are therefore stuck for stock class autocrossing.

Kelly, great info. Can you PM me the pricing on these? I really like the potential jacking points.

Yep, long time SCCA solo ii person here, most of it in F-stock or street tire classes. That allowance, along with the update/backdate provision for performance items factory installed on other variants of the same model are what made base cars competitive. But your average guy looking at taking a grinder to his new Mustang is going to be a bit gunshy...
