So the way I understand this...according to the install video that was nicely done by CJPP, if I buy the FRPP/Roush SC kit, because I don't have and more than likely will not buy the dealer flasher for the PCM for $2,000.

When I send in my PCM for flashing, they will strip out my stock tune and up load the new tune. In the unlikely event that I ever wanted to restore the car to stock, I won't have the stock tune. Correct?

That is correct. However, you can bring the car to any dealer and they can flash it back to a completely stock tune for you for about 100$ (that's what I paid). The car actually ran with the blower tune and no blower (this was an 11 so the strategy was different than 15's).

Fwiw, I was glad that's how it worked for several reasons when I had my 11 and tvs. Especially if you decide later to let someoe else tune it, you will always have a good carb legal supercharger tune to go back to if you need it.

Thanks very much. I was thinking the same thing. Either Roush or Ford dealer would be able to re-flash stock tune. I can't really foresee any reason to take it back to stock but you never know right?

It's not like its a collector car like the LE with numbers, but I may want to remove the blower for another Mustang or a new crate motor if I over cook this one. :)

Whats your thoughts on going with the TVS by VMP. I was thinking with that purchase I'd be getting the flash tuner, (SCT4) with the performance tune that would strip out and store my Stock tune as well, prior to loading the new tune?

There's some other cool flash options coming soon. May want to wait. Since your in CA, you should also wait until one is CA approved.

Yes Sir! Understood and I agree. The FRPP/Roush have C.A.R.B. pending. I've also be in contact with your Whipple tech support. They informed me that you should have C.A.R.B. approval soon as well.

Can you confirm that at least for CA., Whipple will have a closed air box also?
That is my preference.

Our Mustang is in the lab as we speak, should be passed within the next few weeks, which makes it "CARB Pending" until the final paperwork is signed off.

Yes, 100% closed airbox will come with every kit. For someone to make it a open, they just need to remove the lid. The lid though is required for California.

I'm currently running the phase 1 kit with the roush tune, has anybody had anyone else run a customer tune on their roush kit? I've reached out to a couple of the usual suspects and have been told they are taking their time on the 15 platform for further testing. While I appreciate their honesty and patience to get it right i still am on the hunt for a tuner. Anybody have theirs tuned yet?

Sorry tork for the hijack, but did he do a remote tune or are you local? Do you have any idea of the gains made from roush tune to the Lund tune or did you just go straight to his tune?

I'm all about justin at vmp. His products and his tunes are good.

Using the sct (or another) works well also, and stores your factory non supercharged tune. Should you have to put it in for some reason, it may run, but definitely not right.

Yes I've read lots of good reviews about vmp almost ordered that gen2 kit but wanted to do the roush kit and keep my warranty. That only lasted about a week and now I want more power. I will contact Lund and vmp as they both have great reviews.

Drove it straight to the dyno with no cool down period and it dynod 551hp and 491tq.
I'm sure it would do a little better with a cool down period. I posted a pic of the numbers in another thread.

Nobody has gotten a fully drivable aftermarket tune yet. A few have gotten WOT, idle and some in between but the new platform is much more difficult then the past.

Many struggled with the 11-14 until FRPP released there kit and almost everybody used that calibration as there baseline for what tables to change and which direction.

While many will get there, its just not there yet. The Roush, FRPP and Whipple cal's are done by Ford engineers and are highly encrypted.
