I attempted to dip the bottom portion of my base model diffuser following the tips I found in this thread http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13523&highlight=dip+diffuser. All was going great, I got 4-5 nice solid coats on the bottom part, then sprayed the tape line, and immediately started to peel the tape. The tape came off fine, and I got a nice clean line. However, when I got to the curve at theb end of the bumper it became very apparent that I had overestimated my masking abilities. I took over an hour to mask everything and thought I had done a good job. But, the curves came out pretty jagged and I missed the body line in a couple spots. I ended up just feeling defeated and peeled it all off. The problem is that is that I have now fallen in love with the look and need to figure out a way to make it happen. This leads me to my question, what are my other options? For anyone with knowledge of vinyl, is this something that somebody could wrap? Anyone have any idea how much a paint shop would charge to spray it flat black? Maybe I could just have tape it for me and I can spray it?

A full paints spray would likely be 300 or so. Anything can be wrapped, this is a very technical spot but a competent install shop could do it easily.

Just dip it again, you could do it a few times over before you get to the total cost of a paint spray/wrap. That whole area is 1 can at the most, so $15.

I found a local shop that does vinyl and dip. So, I think I'll get a quote from them. If all else fails I'll get some better tape and try again.

Just did it today, spent three hours masking and sprayed four coats of Protective Enamel Satin Flat Black Spray Paint which looks quite like the side skirt and front splinter, it is not plasidip and is cheaper, however it is quite permanent though.

Peel the dip off. Tape it again and make sure it's straight. Then dip it again. That's the best part...it comes off.

I went to a couple places to get quotes and was shocked at how much it would cost to have this done.

Maaco (to Paint) wanted $692 taxes in
3M (to Vinyl) wanted $324
Canadian Tire (to Plastidip) wants 40 bucks.

For me, the choice is obvious.
If you mess up with Plastidip, do it again.
They also have a glossifier to get a gloss look.

Hey I plasti-dipped mine too and it stayed all jagged after removing the blue tape. I see that you did it with spray paint. What steps did you take to doing this? Removed the bumper?, sanded down the area a bit? How is it still holding up with car washes and daily use? Is it fading? Is it cracking? Any advice would help to try and do this so I don't have to always fear that the next car wash will remove my plasti-dip rear valance haha.
-thanks

Try peeling the tape while the paint is still wet that should prevent the tape from making jagged edges.

Exactly, even if it takes a whole can at worst you lost $6-7 to try again before spending hundreds

And get some striping tape they use in the paint booth. It's I believe 1/8 inch wide usually yellow. That will take the curve and then back it with blue tape and paper.
