So I have an impression that with different driving modes, engine sound in the cabin changes a little. Even manual says something about taking "more aggressive tone" when in track mode.

If this is a simple tube, not a sound played through speakers like in Eco, why does it change (assuming I am hearing right) ?

I hate that ford "pumps" engine noise into the cabin to make it sound more aggressive. I wish there was a way to reverse this....

Disable the mic, and your wish is granted.

Maybe disconnect it and plug what it connects to?

kz - if different modes affect either throttle response or cam timing, the sound should change slightly because the resonances in the intake tract would be affected.

There isn't any noise being pumped in via the speakers. It's a sound tube with a fixed level of noise amplification.

OP, are you driving an automatic car? The only real explanation for the more aggressive tones would be the increased induction notes you'd hear because the car is usually in a lower gear, hence higher average cruising RPMs.

Yes, it sounds different, but, it's because of the increased throttle response associated to the different modes.

It's a closed tube - it only passes sound vibrations, not air. Wind noise wouldn't be coming from it.

Nope, manual. I guess different thottle response must be it. Not a huge difference but noticeable I think. Thanks everyone.

there is a slight wind noise coming from the front right area of my dash...I thought it would be the sound tube. but I guess not. it seems to be coming from the speaker on the right side side. not the lower one but the upper one (tweeter I think) its freaking annoying. only at higher speeds too. (upwards of 40)

I've noticed this too. Throttle response changes depending on the mode, for example the car will be more aggressive sounding with less throttle in track mode vs normal.

The modes affect how fast the throttle body blade opens. Not a big difference but faster in track mode compaired to normal mode.
