As I'm getting a better feel for this car, I want to call out two more things I appreciate. A few weeks ago I mentioned the engine - link here
1 - Steering. This is a really good application of (electric?) steering. The speed is not too quick (I find the STI and Evo twitchy on freeways) nor too slow, the wheel feels meaty/padded and nicely sized and there is a lot of feedback (most I've felt in a car since the E46M3, much better than the new BMW's however Lotus guys will find it lacking compared to the unassisted racks!). I prefer the normal mode for the most part and occasionally sport for spirited driving. Comfort is mostly used in parking lots. The wheel also feels substantial, the buttons have a nice resistance to them and the metal trim feels real and premium. I didnt know American cars did steering well - the other car that I enjoyed steering is the new ATS and CTS!
2 - Seats. I'm sure the Recaro thrones are great - a lot of folks who bought them seemed to love them. I took a big chance canceling my Recaros and going with the Premium 68B seats. I'm 5-10, narrow waist/broad shoulders/skinny. The seats I have fit me snugly, are SUPER comfy (really good padding and form - so while there are no a gazillion ways adjustable, they really work), lovely head and back support, well bolstered (the bolsters are prominent but soft - they have supported me well on .85 G turns on some on-ramps). I will share more when I auto-x the car. The leather is quality although I want to see how it holds up (I use lexol once a month), the seat heaters work quickly. I havent used the AC mode yet. For those of us who plan on using baby seats in the future, the memory recline is also very useful. I also think with the 68B stitching they looks sporty and sophisticated. I miss my memory seats in my BMW - it was an option but I didnt want the other stuff that came with it. I use memory a lot as I often move the seat back when exiting the car.
I guess both the above + the forgiving suspension (in my PP) means I feel loads of confidence with this car. The engine also dishes out the power linearly, so I dont feel I will get it wrapped around a tree. Easy car to drive fast and enjoy.
Love the manual tranny as well, but struggling with shifting smoothly with the clutch. I've only owned manual cars (wife drive autos). I think it has to do with the high take off point for the clutch - not sure yet.
