Finally got her out on a proper high speed road course!

Unfortunately the weather was not on our side, but it did make for some puckering moments as you will see in one of the video clips - HEAVY rain. This was my first time out on a road course having only done autocross prior. This was a long time coming, and I finally made it happen. :D

I will say this, while the Toyo R888 are incredible in the dry, they were pretty scarey in the heavy puddling sections (which I knew), so I ended up ending the pouring rain session early. My wife would be proud. BUT, if there isn't standing water and its just a normal light rain and wet road, they were surprisingly good. The first video clip illustrates that.

It was also great having almost 9lbs less rotational weight per corner with the FF15 wheels. This helped with the HEAVY high-speed braking coming off the big banked turn into turn 3.

I was VERY impressed with the car. it is basically dead even in all aspects with the F80 M3. The white one behind me is a friend from HG Motorsports that I went with.

The Gibson exhaust sounded incredible and drew some fans. I had a couple guys that came over saying how incredible it sounded coming down the front straight. My speeds on the straight could have been higher if I had the balls to stay pinned in the bumpy and wet big left sweeper leading you up and onto the banked straight, but I was ok with the roughly 135 mph peak before the big banked turn.

All and all for my first time out, it was incredible! I am planning on hitting either Buttonwillow or Willow Springs in April.

Here is the wet one, but the HEAVY rain will follow in a bit after it loads.

Not sure why the embed is not sticking, so here is the link...

Great stuff, the wheel setup looks solid.

Since your hitting the track now I'd reccomend putting some clear vinyl behind the front and rear wheels. I can already see dents in the vinyl from rocks!

Yeah, I was so mad at myself that I didn't clear bra prior. Will definitely do that prior to the next and the front clip and lights.

Thank you mustang6g for putting this on the homepage!

Looks fun!
It was beyond fun! I can hardly wait for Buttonwillow or Willow Springs in April. I will hopefully have Cortex coil-overs on by then.

Well the blue taped off headlights look kinda sinister.
Haha, yeah kinda does huh? Actually compliments Magnetic pretty well. I'm thinking I might have to invest in clear bra, as I got a decent amount of nicks on the front end from just this one day. :(

If you were looking for someone to do a clear bra talk to Evan at Auto Armour. He did a mustang for us about 6 weeks back.

And I agree on the Gibson exhaust, day 2 of having mine on and it's awesome.

Thank you! Yeah I think so far it's the best sounding. Doesn't hurt that I picked up 19 hp with it either. :)

Now that I have a feel for the car under every condition, the next videos from Buttonwillow or Willow Springs will be much better. Hopefully there is no rain this time.

Safety

Perhaps a consideration of safety would be in order. Roll bar and harness are far more important compared to 9 lb. rotational mass reduction per corner. Otherwise, great looking car!
