I'm actually going to quote some of the stuff that you've said on here if you're ok with that if Ford tries to pass it of as normal wear. I absolutely love the car but am a little disappointed in some of the build quality stuff like the leather seats and the body panel issues as well. What will keep me a loyal and happy customer is how Ford handles the problem.I've been watching this issue here...looking at pics from owners.....plus...I investigated leather seats in a few Mustangs. And, I've owned 9 Mustangs most all with leather.
1st this is NOT normal. That's a platitude that dealers like to use to not have to deal with an issue.
I've actually taken seats apart in the past to fix "Issues"...and know how they are put together...not rocket science here.
Only 2 major issues that are causing this..and a 3rd I will mention at the end.
1. There is too much leather being used for the seat "form" itself. So, more leather than the form can handle. OR --------
2. The foam form is not quite large enough to "fill out" the leather that is used to stretch over the form.
The third possibility --- the leather is just too soft and compliant. More so than any leather I've noticed in many Mustangs of the past. This can be overcome by a proper sized foam seat form...and then stretch that leather over the form tight.
The '15 'stangs with leather I checked had lots of "loose leather." I grabbed the bolsters and got all leather...loose leather....not tight on the form.
THAT IS a problem that will result in "large areas of dips" in the leather after sitting in the seats for even short periods.
Are every one this way? No, but, too many are. Ford changed the leather for '15 vs my '14. I like the seat's shape and they hold me better....but, there is the shortcoming explained above.
Just one of many areas of problems this new '15 is having...in a 1st yr. build of a new body re-do.
I am extremely disappointed because there are many really cool things about the '15 Mustang.
Some cars are making it out of Flat Rock in fairly good shape....but, truth is...too many are not. I know the '14 Mustang "launch" didn't have anywhere near the amount of issues covering so many areas of the car.
Mine has almost perfect paint...body panel alignment, etc. Last year of the 5th generation....!!! They did it really right. They figured out how to...actually they've been pretty good going back to the '11 I believe.
Yeah of course!! Sorry if I worried you. Probably could have done a better job making that clear. There will be no names or references made. I just happen to be that smart :cheers:Sure...don't "quote me" per se....just use the info. to bolster your case. As if YOU already had a "heads up" with the leather issues. I don't want them to trace any of my words back to me. If it were me and them...I don't mind speaking about anything wrong with MY car and will talk freely for what I believe in.
For you..."your source" is anonymous!![]()
Is your Mustang still at the dealer, Apollo_1092? Shoot over a PM with your name, best contact info, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealer; I'll see how I can best assist.Mine are extremely bad on the driver side. The car is currently at my dealership getting looked at. Ford told them to take the seats out, take off the covers, and reapply them to see if that fixed the problem and it hasn't. They're keeping the car another day to talk to Ford. Word is they'll either order completely new seats or Ford is going to call it "normal wear" which I find odd on a car that is only 3 weeks old.
my passenger seat has wrinkles in the lumbar area.
It seems to me that the passenger seat has a completely different supplier.
The color is different, it has marks some weird marks on it, the belt latch is a different red then drivers + different pad to protect against hitting center console and if you look at it from the outside, the seat isnt level..
Have you spoken with your dealers about this, Nexion and S550BackInBlack? Please send a PM with your names, best contact info, VINs, current mileage, and servicing dealers; let's see how I can help.Mine has looked exactly like this since the day I one! I noticed it when I took delivery of the car but the guy who pulled it around to the delivery garage was really fat so I figured it was just his ass print at the time. This is ridiculous for a 41K car. I am shocked to see how many are having this same issue. When you touch the leather there is about a 1/4 inch void of empty space between the cover and the pad below. It also looks like the alignment is off in the manner that they sewed the pieces together. The pass seat is wavy on the side bolster but nowhere near as bad as the drivers seat. I only weigh 160 lbs and the lower outboard side bolster where the lower meets the upper back is very loose as weak and seems not connected to the seat. And for reference, these pics are taken after NO ONE has sat in the seat in over two days. Its significantly worse after I get out of the seat.
