But a 1le can lap faster than a Boss302, what were they thinking? They never needed to go that far! If thats how they play their game than let Ford compare the 350r to 2013 1le instead of a z28!

A 1LE is only classed in T2 and that is where it belonged. The GT350 is NOT a T2 class vehicle. The GT is reserved for T2 and below.

Regardless, a 1LE would still be a 2015 would it not?

...and we still don't know if there will be a 2015 GT350 and GT350R at the end of the year. I think a very limited run of 2015's is priority. There are some advantages in this scenario for Ford. Especially when a limited run of high performance vehicles are concerned.

Another concern is, when will there ever be a 6th Gen z28? Will it combine two models (or three) since there is only an NA LT1 and a S/C LT4.

I'll say this right now... Chevy (or GM) doesn't have a naturally aspirated V8 that can contend with the Voodoo. The LT1 just isn't it, even a dry sump won't cut it and would have that engine pushing 500lbs. If the LT4 is used and the ZL1 and z28's roles are merged... well then... I will refer you to the C7 Z06 section of supreme haters. It was a bad move for the Z06, it would be equally bad for the z28.

Interesting point about what the future Camaro's might have in terms of engine.

Typically you can look at the Corvette and guess that the Camaro will have a similar engine, with slightly lower HP.

With that in mind, the LT1 is an obvious choice. Probably would be making 450 HP with fantastic torque, cylinder deactivation and direct injection. Would make the Camaro an excellent performer with good fuel economy (especially HWY). I think the GT would have a hard time competing without some power upgrades or weight reduction.

However, for a hipo version, the LT4 is really all that is available. Makes sense for a GT500 competitor, but not for a GT350 equivalent.

The Z/28 is the closest match to the GT350, but I don't know what engine would power a next-gen Z/28. LS7 would likely no longer be an option, LT1 is probably not powerful enough, and LT4 isn't a good choice for a track car due to weight and heat. I would love to see an LT1 with the cylinder deactivation removed, a higher redline, and a more aggressive cam profile that can do a better job maintaining torque to redline. Maybe they have room to bore it out a bit for larger valve area. Would they ever put the TTV6 from the ATS-V in a Camaro? That would be an interesting choice, and would offer something Ford does not. For a track car I'd still prefer a normally aspirated V8.

Might be that in the future there won't be as direct a comparison to the GT350 as the Z/28 is now.

Wait why can't they use ls7? If the upcoming gen6 z28 looses weight and stripped down as a track car lets assume c6 zo6 numbers. Lap time 7:22 and if i was Ford i would benchmark that! I really want Ford to step up their game come on! :ford:

The 6th Gen could very well end up being close to 3900lbs. Chevy has already said the LS7 is kaput...
Regardless of power, I don't think a Camaro of any kind is going to follow the GT350 into C7 Corvette territory.

The GT350R could weigh under 3500lbs.

Pounds in 2010 or whatever u called it "fat pig" yet when a must weighs that much it is gods gifts to engineering! You r way behind when u talk about engines the gen 6 halo car will have an "lt5 trademark dohc direct injected 5.5l engine I can't believe with all of the " knowledge" and "inside info" u get u didn't know about this engine! You make us Ford owners and loves look like a bunch of whinny babys. When a mustang loses on a road course by 2 seconds it I'd a close race when a mustang wins by 1/2 second it is a murder. Also with ur ring conspiracy's u do realize they use GPS very accurate GPS and just slapped that over the video! They didn't use the video or timer as there time that was the time off the high dollar vbox they have!!

The pill thinks a 5.5 l is racing only discplacent wait let me guess that I'd max displacement for some class!!gm could pick 5.2 or 5.3 or 5.5 or 5.5 that isn't how power train engineers think! They have effiencey goals! It may be a smidge smaller or bigger but that was starting point! Also name was trademarked like in 2012 again!

GM has openly said the 5.5L is a racing only displacement, something that even the GM goons over on camaro5 have confirmed.
