Around the window opening. It is a very common problem, one of the most common in this platform

I dealt with it within a year of ownership. It was covered under warranty. I don't know if they gave me a new "better" one or just a new "old one" but so far so good

Hello; my pickup is now 22 years old. Eight or ten years ago I replaced the factory headliner myself. I found a fiber board hard under the sagging cloth. it took a bit to get that board out.

I got a similar cloth to the factory type and a spray adhesive designed to do the job. Spray glued the new cloth onto the fiber board and fought & struggled to get the thing back in the cab of the truck.

Went well for a number of years but the glue began to fail and I have sagging cloth again. I got a tip from a friend which has worked. He suggested to use thumb tacks. Igot some white tacks and tried that. Been a few months and the tacks have held. Tacked a new sag last week.
I plan to pull the fiber board again some day but the thumb tacks are a good stopgap and will not when i do the job for the second time.

I'll try to look up my old records and see what they wrote but it's a known issue.

That’s what the 15+ mustangs do. The inside foam piece doesn’t hold the headliner board up.

Thumb tacks?? Seriously? Come on man, don’t do that.

Hello; That was my first thought. However the headliner cloth began drooping more and I did not find the time to pull the whole headliner and do the job. It is a decent stopgap repair and does not ruin the underlying fiber board. When I do get around to doing it right the tacks will not show up.

Not all Mustangs have it but many do. I’ve seen mileage as low as 7000 miles in the headliner falls down from the window foam. If you don’t have it you’re lucky but there is a good chance it will happen to you.

i’ve heard of the dealership replacing the headliner as well as replacing the foam with a different profile. Some people have good luck with that and some do not. If the dealer doesn’t cover the cost, I think the new window foam is around $350, and the new headliner I think is like $1200 plus their labor to do them. I’ve heard stories of people coming out of pocket nearly $3000 for a new headliner installed at the dealership.
