Help me decide on a cervini hood

I never even thought about the fogging up the windshield. That makes sense as all the heat is directed towards the windshield now. But you're saying it's never a problem? Even if its hot out and ac is on.

Correct. The most I’ve had is like when you would blow at your window as a kid… immediately goes away.

No offense intended, but IMO there are very few hoods that look like a natural fit with the truncated nose restyle in 2018. Even the factory hood looks kind of forced to my eye. I am partial to the Shelby GT hood for the 2018 though, with the Super Snake hood a very close 2nd, it's actually more of a toss up! I actually ordered the 2015 version of the Super Snake for my car a couple years ago, but 6 weeks after I paid for it they called me up and said that hood was discontinued due to a manufacturing issue from the supplier, so I had to settle for a GT-H styled hood instead. As far as I know the 2018 Shelby GT and Super Snake hoods are still available, although ridiculously expensive from Shelby, but if you trust Alibaba.com they are showing the Super Snake hood on clearance for only $550.

Ok good, I was getting nervous about that lol. I just ordered the hood unpainted. Should be here in a couple weeks and then I am dropping it off at my local body shop to have it painted.

Wonder if I should pay extra to paint the bottom of it? Can't make up my mind if that's worth it or not.

This was right after I got it back from the paint shop. Since this was taken I've added gold Shelby style stripes front to back which really make the car stand out, I just don't have any pics with the stripes yet.

Everyone that has the GT500 hood has mentioned how heavy it is. But part of that weight is the grill and rain tray, along with im sure extra bracing because of the huge cut out in the middle.

Either way it just comes down to personal preference and what look you're going for I guess.

Yeah one of the Shelby hoods, I can't remember which is my favorite but it's 2300 before tax and shipping. My cervinis was like 1250 shipped to my door.

This is my favorite hood, it's the Shelby gth. But it's 2200 plus tax and shipping. More than I am willing to spend.

When my hood was installed, I had them paint the underside with chassis black just to seal the fiberglass, but my hood wasn't finished with a smooth gel coat like the top side, so in my case case it would've been extremely expensive to have the prep work done for a good finish coat. In any case, with the matte black on the underside it looks finished enough for my taste. I don't know what the underside of your hood is like, smooth gelcoat? or just textured glass matt? Either way, get a quote for both a good color matched finished coat vs just a quick spray of chassis black, but you should get a coat of paint on it to protect the fiberglass.

I love stripes on Mustangs but it seems like most Mustang guys prefer no stripes. When I first got my car I was going to change the stripes because it came with what is called the offset stripe and I didn't like how the stripes were 2 different sizes.

But it grew on me to the point where I didn't want to change them. I built my car oem plus using parts from RTR, Bullit, Shelby and Mach 1 parts. All genuine parts, no Alibaba.

So I just feel like the cobra r hood flows with my build better. It's not in your face like the GT500 hood is. It will also be toned down so to speak once I put my stripes on it because your eyes will look at the stripe before the hood.

My body shop said it was only going to be $200.00 more to paint the underside. So I might as well do it. I have no idea what finish is on it because I just ordered it today from cervini.

Paint the bottom satin black or matte black instead of leaving it white or unpainted.

That’s weird… when I got mine the shop didn’t even ask if I wanted the under side painted, they just did the whole thing color matched to the FJG and added the M1 stripe.
Also, the Cervini comes primer gray ready for paint.
