I have one off a 22. I know it has the "carbon trap" but I cut all that crap out day one, so its wide open. I sold my car over a year and a half ago, its just collecting dust.

my car is a 22 also and I removed the carbon trap as well, but I left the plastic mesh in the tube. I 'd like to try one from 21 or earlier so I appreciate your reply, I really don't want a 22 air lid. Thanks

The lid is otherwise the same as the 18-21 lids. You’ve removed the difference in lids already. The plastic grate that held the carbon trap doesn’t have any real effect on airflow. You can always remove that plastic grate too

I'm in Greenville as well. East side, near Roper Mtn Rd.

This CAI is from a 2019 and I purchased it from eBay. The seller said it had 2k miles on it, since new. Still has the OEM Motorcraft filter.

My car is a '22 like yours. I bought this spare intake to measure and sort out the differences between '18-'21 and '22-'23 intakes. I made a thread about it here with all the details:
https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/22-23-vs-18-21-cai-measurements.191281/

In short, if you remove the grid "sleeve" from the MAF tube in your '22, you'll have the same 97.5 mm inner diameter at the MAF sensor as the '18-'21 cars. This lets tuners use the same tune across Gen 3 model years (same flow area at MAF).

Hi Chuck, I live across the street from Femin golf course. Maybe we can meet if you'd like. I removed the plastic lattice as well as the carbon trap filter but not the tube as I did not know it could be removed. Do I need a tune if I remove the tube? Not really sure how to remove but I'll try. I thought of getting an older lid would the easiest way to solve the little problem

Gotcha. I did pull out all the mesh, mine is just a wide open hole now. I subsequently installed a JLT intake, then traded the car a few months later..

You'll want to leave that sleeve (tube inside the MAF tube) in place if you're running the factory tune. Otherwise, the diameter will be 2.5 mm too large for the MAF to calculate the mass flow correctly with the larger flow area. It might not throw a CEL but the fuel trims will be off a bit. I ran into this with my first aftermarket tune, when they didn't know that diameter had been reduced from 97.5 mm to 95 mm on the 2022-23 cars.
