Interest in a new Lightning?

Just saw a quote today by Raj Nair that the new Raptor will have 450 HP out of its Ecoboost V6. It got me to thinking what if Ford would use this engine maybe 450 HP and 500 TQ in a new Lightning, RCSB rear wheel drive, and suspension tuned for the street rather than off-road. Kinda like the recent Tremor they offered but "better". (More power/torque and less weight due to use of aluminum body)

What do you think? Would you like to see it or leave it dead? :shrug:

The thing is.... Ford had a "lightning" in 2014 and no one relly noticed...

if you ordered a 2014 FX4 regular cab short bed... the system would switch it to a "Tremor" package.

I've been waiting for a new Lightning ever since they stopped making them. That's why I won't sell my 2000 Lightning even though it has 92,000 miles. It's a red one and it still look and drives like new. The Tremor was not a Lightning replacement even Ford admitted that. There is no way the Tremor could handle like the Lightning. I've had two of them, a 1993 and a 2000, they are outstanding trucks. Come on Ford make a new Lightning, You will sell a lot of them.

Had an '02 Lightning, my wife still holds a grudge that I traded it in. She loved driving it as much as I did.

Correct. The wheel gaps on that thing were atrocious. Looked like a jacked up 4X4. A 450 HP 500 TQ lighter RCSB new Lightning would be cool in my book but I'm not sure the market is there. It would sticker more than the Tremor and closer to the Raptor. Who knows maybe they will someday. I know it was VERY popular while it was out. I'd even like to pick a used one up as a "beater" some day.

oh man, a 2WD RCSB aluminum F-150 with a blown 6.2L and fat sticky tires would be glorious!

but in reality, it'd share the Raptors ecoboost and still be a cool truck.

The Tremor was a nice truck, but the 3.5L really left me wanting more after driving a few of them.

I've owned 3 Gen2 Lightnings, including the unmodified one I drive daily right now, and agree the Tremor was never a Lightning replacement. I do wish Ford would produce another high-performance truck in the future.

A proper Lightning would be neat, Torsen limited slip and the 15" Brembo's from the GT PP, a nice 450+ hp Ecoboost with a fat torque curve, rear wheel drive and a 6 speed auto? That'd be pretty nice.

Or better yet tune it up closer to the Ford GT they are releasing with the same engine but pumped up to 700HP. :eyebulge:

They should build a Lighting with a supercharged 5.0 with the same suspension as Vaughn Gittin's RTR Truck

This thing has an awesome stance IMO, and it can still do sweet jumps
