Found this today. Any clue what it may have come from or how much I should be worried? First oil change w/ the magnetic plug (clearly worth the money), so I'm not sure if this is a new issue. I found it odd that the piece has 4 relatively straight sides, a flat back, and half round top. I happened to save the filter from the last oil change. I cut both open, and there's a few slivers and a little glitter this time, but not much. nothing notable in the older one.

2020 5.0, 6 speed w/ Roush Blower

Hello; There is another thread active currently. In that one the consensus seems to be a broken sprocket tooth. Your picture is some different from the other picture.

That other thread is unfortunately my car this is what i found during my oil and just like sk47 if you start seaching you will find loads of people with the same issue. My car is still under warranty so its going to the dealer on the 24th. Not sure of you have warranty or not if you dont id start with getting behind the timing cover and checking everything there. Sorry this happened to u as well its such a shit feeling best of luck

Your piece looks the the end of a rocker retainer clip. Some break occasionally when they See high RPM.

It doesn’t look like a cast or machined part, but rather a bent / formed part.

peak power is all the way at the top on these things. and their limiter is pretty mild. my brother's is tuned by palm Beach dyno. think they moved his to 8k (might even be past that).

I would've thought the opposite from the pitted look of the first close up

from the looks of how thin that is, I would be looking at something like this area. Not sure where else this type of metal might be used in the engine however…

ah, good call. in the doomsday scenario that this is the issue, what would be your protocol (or anyone else's that wants to chime in)? are you pulling valve covers to check, or letting it go another year and checking if any other pieces come out? oil analysis (it's all recycled now)? if this is the issue, is it just a new rocker? or cams, too? or even more than that? I'm a novice mechanic, at best.

Perhaps the power is up top, ok, but other parts keep breaking. What's the point of revving to 8k if things are gonna break? Idk. It doesn't make much sense to me. But then again, Im not going for the last bit of power . I would rather avoid having to rebuild an engine and shoulder that expense and work.
