I translate that quote as "it didn't beat the Z/28s time". Why wouldn't they share it if it did?
The 2013 GT500 beat the ZL1's time and they never said anything till years later.

They do not want to get in a competition with a known cheat.

Has Ford ever released official lap times from the Ring? Wasn't the GT500 cockpit video leaked by someone else?

Its a Ford video that was "accidentally" released with a bunch of other press material.

Ford, as a company policy, does not release 'Ring times. One group took a GT out onto the ring and released a time, and Team RS did run a Focus RS on the ring, but the feeling was it was without FoMoCo's blessing.

There are some pretty delusional people over yonder. This rumored time is driving them crazy! They can't stand it and I love it!!! There is a guy that is factoring in "a minute of heavy rain" into his z28 7:31 run. There is a very distorted, sick and twisted perspective of "Official" Nurburgring lap times on that site. Don't let a rumor destroy you like that... and who gives a sh!t anyway? When crap like this flies, it's easy to see who the children are. It is a single, best lap... what about Lap 2?

In essence, Ring runs are just a more advanced Drag Race. But, there is NO race, it's more of a Time Trail. Another thing they never consider... Those cars have full, unique cage structures providing unlimited torsional strength. It could come down to WHO can build a better cage, not who can build a better car. Nobody regulates Nurburgring cages, look at the Ring ZL1 that ran... It had tube everywhere.

A 7:32.19 is fast, and apparently, that number probably isn't too far off. As I said, initially, there were a few others bragging on a 7:28 from the GT350R too but, nothing is confirmed... Nothing from the GT500 was confirmed either but, there is a timed lap and, it did well. I only imagine a GT350R has done better than their last trip.

That 11 seconds during the Nurburg"rain" z28 run has been epic... Never mind it rained on both the Boss 302 and GT500's Lighting Lap (during traffic), the z28's 11 seconds of downpour (lol) has just diminished their reputation in their very own, humble opinion. 7:31.... HA!!! Now that is "Official" because someone that works at Chevy said it...

The z28 is at a HUGE disadvantage... well... a few HUGE disadvantages but, it uses tech and tire to get out of some of those issues.

The first disadvantage is weight... Yes... Fact.... the z28 will be, at a minimum 200lbs heavier, some say maybe close to 300lbs even. That's bad... but the fat boy is probably getting use to being the fat boy.

The other disadvantage is that big old sloppy foot print. On a 112.5 inch Wheelbase, the current z28's track is sub-optimal for it's size. Chevy used huge tires and impressive rubber to bandaid this big 5th Gen flaw. The GT350 has an AWESOME foot print. There are few in the entire industry that uses such a performance oriented ratio. The z28 is still using Grand Pa's WB and Track. The GT350R will be able to do more with less tire BUT, I assure you that the 305/315's are going to rock. Sticky, wider and on a much better foot print in my educated opinion.

This flaw will be carried over to the 6th Gen BUT, it will not be as critical on a 109 inch WB. That is IF they use a 63/63 or, 64/63. It is still sub-optimal, not nearly as bad as the 5th Gen. The Mustang was built to actually race, the Camaro was built off the ATS or CTS.

This will become painfully evident as the platforms age...

you should see what ford put up on FB well really road and track but FOrd is tagged in the post lol
Car & Driver and Road & Track are siting a British source, EVO.

If EVO was the original source, I can believe them. They frequent the Ring weekly and, is one of the 7 clubs that were on hand in 2011.

Usually where this is smoke there is fire.

Someone said that evo is just repeating what the site we don't speak of posted.

But I'm wondering if the opposite is true.

And there is no reason why the superior s550 platform in gt350 trim doesn't poop all over the z28.

But there's also been a rumor from gmauthority that the z28 did it on another day dry that was 7:31.9, but because it wasn't on video, they didn't claim it. But with the GT350R having more power and less weight, it should beat the Z28 and we should not be surprised. If it can't, that would be a slap in Fords face.

What's also interesting is that I thought I read the gt350 did in on a wet track too.

Maybe I'm mixing things up.

But GM WOULD post their best times. Not compromised. Sounds like they had trouble duplicating such a time on a dry day. And Chevy would be silly to video after rain but not when its 100% dry. Especially knowing they'd run the z.

Al O. publicly stated, the 7:37.47 was done on the last outing on the last day of testing. That means they never broke that 7:37. I was told the z28 had problems passing the ZL1 AND, the C7 Stingray (still no time for that).

How they managed a 6 second increase after all of that is beyond my guessing.

I'm saying they ran 40 or so laps in a 10 day period and only ran a 7:37.47 (stop watch mismanaged).
