I'm a newbie on this forum and glad to join!
I'm also new to Ford and Mustangs, so I apologize for any newbie-ish questions I'm asking.
I'll get it out now: I'm seriously considering this Mustang and have been a BMW driver and BMWCCA member for a long time (16+ yrs). However, the design, quality, and performance of this new Mustang is unbelievable!! Yes, I am actually defecting from BMW for my next daily driver as I am tired of the cookie-cutter models the BMW brand has become. As a car enthusiast, I want a car that has presence, feels different, high build quality, performance focused, feature loaded, and places the enthusiast first. Ford and this Mustang have my attention now! :ford:
Since this is going to be my daily driver, I want to make sure I get this question addressed before I pull the trigger on an EcoBoost. My question is specifically about the clutch and its engagement point on this new Mustang. I was able to do a quick test drive in an EcoBoost manual, and noticed that when letting out the clutch (for gear engagement) I noticed that I have to let the pedal out about 50% before the clutch starts to make contact. Is this normal for a Mustang? And can this be adjusted modified?
I ask because all the manual cars I have driven in my life have the clutch starting to engage a lot sooner, almost as soon as you let it out (1-2" and it starts making contact). I don't want to modify the way I drive since this will be a daily driver and I also race; I built and race a Factory Five Challenge Cobra with a Tremec TKO600 and McLeod clutch and it too grabs as soon as you start letting it out. So changing my clutch "habits" are not good since I have my racing heel-toe timing technique down; I just need this clutch to engage must sooner.
So ultimately: are these clutches adjustable? Can you adjust to engage sooner? Or are there any mods for this?
