According to Ford's site "...Ford is bringing more than 12 new performance vehicles from now through 2020!" In previous interviews with Dave Pericak, he didn't say specifically that there would be a future Shelby GT500, but when asked directly, Pericak smirked and said that he would not comment on future products. To me, that pretty well sets the stage for an upcoming GT500, and as previously speculated here at Mustang6g, more than likely equipped with an ecoboost turbocharged 5.2L? Though, the fact that the new Ford GT is equipped with an ecoboost V6, may be telling about Ford's plans for their V8 engines. Say it ain't so, Ford!! A Mustang without a V8 option, may as well not have wheels!

Ford's "12 new performance vehicles" include the Fiesta ST, Focus ST, Shelby GT350 Mustang, F-150 Raptor and the Ford GT. This leaves 7 "new performance vehicles" left, between now and 2020. My question would be, does the upcoming 2017 Super Duty count as a "performance vehicle"?

I'm betting that, just like in 2003-2005, the new Ford GT will be produced in EXTREMELY limited numbers, which means astronomical price tag and, more than likely, out of my reach. So, my next choice would be the GT350 (not the -R), UNLESS there's another GT500 on the way.

I'm very curious as to what Ford has on the horizon for us, but, more importantly, I'm extremely curious as to what my next Ford vehicle will be. The problem is, I won't be in the market for the next 3 to 4 years. Either way, I've been glued to this site for the last year or so.

I want a new Bronco that looks like the new F150, with a shorter wheelbase and removable hard top. One can hope.

Honestly, I think the Fiesta and Fusion ST's are a waste of time. By the time you get to the out-the-door price of those things, you might as well get yourself a real performance vehicle, like the Mustang.

When I saw the Bronco prototype back in 2011 or so, I was drooling all over that thing! So an F150 based Bronco would be killer!

As for the SHO, I like it, I'm a fan of the new designs, especially the AWD versions, as I live in UT, and we get more than our fair share of snow.

I think they'll have a twin turbo v6 in the mustang within the next 5 years. I'm sure they could make a twin turbo v8 now if they wanted. But that would be a huge step up. Ford is a business and I'm sure they want to incrementally increase the horsepower, to make something new for the next generation. 7th gen mustang gt with twin turbo v8 anyone?

As long as they don't get rid of the v8 then ill be happy and I'm sure a lot of customers would think the same providing 75% of the 2015 mustang sales are the v8 5.0

Over the course of the model year I highly doubt that 75% of the 2015 Mustang sales will be V8s. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if that number is under 50% (and likely has been in past years, as well).

The V8 is very important to the Mustang (to an extent I think it even drives non-V8 sales), but not to the tune of being 75% of all purchases.

how do you think 4 door hatchbacks are a waste of time.. they fund and make a mustang possible..

you need to look at the sales. the mustang is a niche market.. the fact that they take the time to make these cars fast and fun is wonderful!

It's quite easy to purchase a Fiesta ST for under $20K and a friend of mine bought a Focus ST for $21.8k. You are going to be hard pressed to buy a GT Mustang for under $30k. A V6 or Ecoboost are close in price and the performance is fairly equivalent but a Focus ST is infinitely more practical with four doors and enough back seat room for real people with legs to sit in the back.

Different people have different needs and the Focus & Fiesta STs fill a need the Mustang can't.

Not going to disagree with your last point.

Why compare ST to the GT Mustang though? The last time I checked, Focus ST was slower than the V6 Mustang and a couple grand more expensive. Made the decision easy for me.

The other thing about the ST is the seats are made for little people. At 6'4" 235 I'm not comfortable in the car. I could get by but the Mustang is much easier for me to fit into.

Ehh the 4 door thing doesn't matter to me. I don't have kids or friends. :D
