I replaced the pigtail connector. The service charging system light still comes on. I'll replace the alternator next.

I replaced the alternator and everything is back to normal! No more dash light, voltage irregularities or loss of electrical power. I had a shop test the alternator & they said it tested fine. Just goes to show..... Now gotta send the old one in for core $$. Thank you for everyone's help.

Did you have a battery tender attached the whole winter?
And did you do the BMS reset after putting in the new battery?

Hey Bob, yes, i had a tender wired to body ground and then to the power point in the fuse block for a couple of months. After waking her up, bringing the car for new tires, had the battery almost die after 10 minutes sitting with the radio on. Immediately went out and grabbed a new Die Hard gold, installed and did the BMS reset using my Snap on solus. Car then sat for two weeks, drove it for about 15 miles….hand washed, dried and waxed. Went to drive, got the error, voltage reading 11.3v 😒. Wiggle tested the three wire connector; nothing. Haven’t checked fuses 24 and 36 yet, (left the car elsewhere) but i pln to check those, and ordered the WPT-118 connector, figured i’d start there before just going right for an alternator. Main reason being, this error popped up for me TWICE randomly, then vanished while going through a car wash. (Which i have ceased doing) It is leading my brain towards a short in the connector or subsequent wiring, perhaps it finally took out a fuse as well. I’m soon to be doing a boatload of work to the car, which includes a barton shifter, jacking rails, subframe brace, replacing all fluids, and the PP3 install along with the upgraded VCT’s, so i figure while i’m in there, it will be a good time to check/replace the harness, and do new belts/replace the alt if needed. Been stockpiling parts all winter, going to take a week off to get it all put together 😎

I had the same problem recently and replaced the alternator and all is fine now. I replaced the pigtail connector as well just for the hell of it.

I’m thinking of taking the same path. Did you just go with a Motorcraft alt? I don’t need anything really upgraded in that area, but am not going cheap either. Probably going to grab the M/T 200A unit
