I have the airaid but wouldn't get it again unless I was going to run just a cai and no tune. With the tune we only picked up a few hp. I would go jlt if I had to do it again.
I thought the same thing about Airaid, out all the CAI's I looked at it's the only one that didn't require a tune. One of the few reasons its not on my list.

Why? Sorry, never don't any modification. I wonder if that one is CARB legal.
I seriously doubt they will be CARB legal, luckily you won't have to worry about SMOG for 6 years.

I'd personally go with the Airaid enclosed one for a DD that see's traffic.[/QUOTE

For what reasons? I've posted iat's with JLT, they are tighter numbers than the stock intake

Hmmm interesting. I wouldn't think there'd be any more of a restriction on its design over JLT. I prefer the Airaid setup as it looks better at keeping engine bay heat out, being a sealed unit. I heard there is an insert for guys not wanting to tune with the Airaid. Any chance the insert is still in?
See above, I posted pictures of my iat's with the jlt "open" box. Iat's rise slightly faster at a stop in traffic, but drop dramatically faster than the stock box when you start moving. Iat diff was 2-3 degrees over ambient when in traffic. Stock box was 5-6 on the same day. To the Dyno with stock intake, back home with jlt. Same day, same roads traveled

I didn't dyno. But I pick up huge gains with the airaid and Bama 93 track tune. I did drive the car some with the airaid only and it bogged bad in mid range. So for that reason, I would suggest a tune as well. I don't know if they flow as much air as a JLT or Steeda. But they definitely flow a lot of air. I went with the Airaid thinking it would keep the filter cleaner than the open top or hood sealed types.
After I read the first line of your post there was ZERO reason to read the rest. You have ZERO proof of ANYTHING! Huge gains???? Of what?

Airaid is my vote.
Based on what? Post your Dyno numbers. Before and after. Post your iat's, before and after. A blanket statement with no reason, isn't a compelling argument

A intake that does not require a tune is really doing nothing. The insert you stick in it you restrict the air is taking away the benefit of the added air flow.

so i'm getting confused on the intake topic among couple of threads.

what is the go to intake for someone who will never get a tune...unless it's the ford tune for the gt down the road?

If you dont like what I have to say, then dont f...... read it Anthony. I don't need a f...... dyno to tell me what my ass can feel. This is not my first fing vehicle to mod. YES. Hugh gains!!!!!!!! F...... horsepower and troque. Is that simple enough for you. I am sick of pepole being smartasses on this site because they think the brand they have is SO MUCH BETTER. I like all the brands. To each is his on! So suck on it!

the problem with the airaid is it's a "no tune intake", without increasing the size, it really isn't going to increase the airflow anymore

we have the jlt's available in painted and plastic,

steeda always makes a nice product as well

My IAT's have a 3-4 degree difference at highway/interstate speeds.

I really can't see how the stock intake flows as much as the airaid. The cars characteristics defintely changed for the good. I am going to pull my airaid CAI off and see if it came with the insert installed. Maybe its not?

I'm glad this topic came up because I'm currently trying to decide on which CAI to get. I think for me, it's between a JLT and Steeda. Steedas won't be out for another month, though if I'm not mistaken. I see them "available" on their site but towards the bottom it has an ETA of February 15th.

At any rate, I definitely plan on getting a tune once I add a CAI. Since Airaids don't require a tune, does that mean I'd be better off going with JLT or Steeda? Or will a tune still benefit an Airaid CAI (although it doesn't necessary require it)?

Where are the painted JLTs located on your site? All I see is textured black. Or is that the painted one?

airaid is designed to keep proper mass air flow readings and calibration. so it doesnt need a tune. youll still get some power out of it with a tune but you can get a tune later on instead of dropping money on both at the same time.. i know steeda design their intake with the sleeve you can remove once you want to tune it with more flow

Oh, that's interesting. Does that mean you can run a Steeda without a tune with the sleeve in and simply remove it when you decide to get it tuned? If so, that's pretty cool. I plan on getting my ride tuned either the same day I install the CAI or maybe the day after so I guess it doesn't matter much. That is a pretty cool option to have, though. I just don't know if I want to wait a month!

Saw a thread a few days ago that was dated back to 2012 or 2013 where Steeda did a shootout between the 3 intakes, Steeda, airaid, JLT. All 3 were within a few HP of each other, I dont remember the order but I do remember steeda was 2nd. With this motor being a rough carry over I would think the results would be fairly similar, so pick an intake which you like.
