Window tint tips?

Never done it before, but thinking about getting it done.

What do I need to know about it?

-There's a max tint I can do? (In PA). Is that measured by percent (higher=more tint)?
-Do I do windshield, or is that illegal?
-Are there different ways of getting it done? What's preferred?
-What should I look for when finding a place to do this?
-Typical costs?

SC allows a medical exemption. Hmmm...time for my annual eye appointment anyway! It's already documented in my records that I have small cones in my eyes that gather light, maybe I can spin this for the med. letter.

Minnesota only allows a max 50% tint, and none on the windshield. However, when I talked to my Ford accessories salesperson, he handed me an optometrist's business card and said with a wink "this guy is very lenient in providing a prescription to allow you to go darker".,
The problem with that...our Highway Patrol will still pull you over. Then you have to dig out your 'tinting permission prescription". Once you are pulled over, you never know what the cop is going to want to 'inspect' next.

How does a police officer check the level of tinting?

Also, if you get tint, does it make the interior darker when sitting in the car?

And, will it help prevent fade from sun, or just cosmetic?

Around here the Po-po carry a small card they hold behind the tint. It has squares on it with different shades that "gauge" the level of tint.

Nope - they come from the factory without any tint. Any mustangs you see on a dealer lot with tint have been installed by the dealer before sale.

Actually there is a very slight tint to them. Not enough to be considered "tint" in my book, but enough to throw off the numbers if you use the legal limit tint for your state without taking the shading from the factory in consideration. Just to clarify if you have a state that is really anal about the exact percentages. My glass guy will actually meter the factory glass and use the correct tint to make sure you are legal. If you want to be, that is!
